This Sri Paleeswarar Temple at Jamin Korattur is in midst
of paddy fields, about a KM off from Poonamallee to Thiruvallur/ Tiruvallur Main road.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with a temple tank. Balipeedam
and rishabam are in front of the temple. Moolavar is small on a square
avudayar. In koshtam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and
Durgai.
In praharam Maha Ganapathi, Sri Valli Devasena
Subramaniar, Gajalakshmi, Kasi Viswanathar, Navagrahas, Suriyan, Chandran,
Chandikeswarar and Bairavar.
Ambal is in a separate temple facing south. Ambal
Gnanambigai is in standing posture with abhaya varada hastam.
ARCHITECTURE
The total temple complex was built with bricks and
cement concrete. The main temple is only with sanctum sanctorum and an ardha
mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a pada bandha adhistanam with jagathy.
Three patta kumudam and pattikai. The Bhitti starts with vedikai. The pilasters
are of brahma kantha pilasters with kalasam, kudam, palakai and Pothyal. The
Prastram consists of valapi and kapotam with nasikudus. An eka tala Vimanam is
on the sanctum sanctorum. Shiva, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, and Brahma are in
the greeva koshtam.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is said that the Shiva temple is more than 1000
years old, built during Chozha period, but no evidence is found to prove its
antiquity. Also, it was said that the original temple was destroyed during Tippu
Sultan’s invasion. The present structure may have been built during the 20th
century.

Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are
conducted on Pradosham and maha Shivaratri days.

Since oru kala Pooja is conducted, the opening and
closing times are unpredictable.

The temple at Jamin Korattur is about 1 KM off from
Poonamallee to Thiruvallur Main Road, about 6 KM from Thirumazhisai, 10 KM
from Poonamallee, 14 KM from Thiruvallur, 25 KM from Koyambedu, and 31 KM from
Chennai Central Railway Station.
Nearest Railway station is Thiruvallur.
