The
temple faces east with an entrance on the south side. Vallarasu Vinayagar Sannidhi is on the left side of the entrance to the temple. A Trishul and a
Rishabam are in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum. In Sanctum Sanctorum Moolavar is
Like Ayyanar, in a sitting posture with his right leg resting on the ground. What are the articles he is holding is not known. A Trishul is kept crossed on
Moolavar. In koshtam Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai. Navagrahas
are on the northeast corner of the temple.
ARCHITECTURE
The
sanctum sanctorum is open to the sky, inside the mandapam. Moolavar is installed a little above the ground level. The sanctum sanctorum was built with bricks.
HISTORY
AND INSCRIPTIONS
This
temple is on the west end of the Velachery Eri. It was said that the main deity is Ayyanar, broken at the hip level and the body was fixed about 20 years
before. Still, the right leg is visible below the pedestal. It was further told
that two elephants were found in front of Ayyanar. It is usual to install/construct an Ayyanar on the banks of an Eri. When the Ayyanar was converted as
Vairava Eswarar is not known.

Apart
from regular oru kala poojas, special poojas are conducted on Pournami / full
moon day, Amavasya / new moon day, Kiruthigai, Pradosham, Sankadahara
chathurti, Kithigai, Sashti, Maha Shivaratri etc.

The
temple is on the new Colony road in Adambakkam, about 200 meters from Kakkan
Bridge. The town bus 5E from T Nagar Bus stand to AGS Colony passes through Kakkan Bridge.

temple is about 1.5 KM from St Thomas Mount Railway station and 3 KM from
Guindy railway station
