This Sri Santheeswarar temple is on the north side of
the Village, about 100 meters from the Melmanambedu main Road. An entrance arch
in on the road side with stucco images of Shiva and Parvati as Rishabaroodar,
Vinayagar and Murugan, on both sides.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple is facing west with a 3 tier Rajagopuram. Stucco
images of Shiva and Parvati as Rishabaroodar, Vinayagar, and Murugan on the top
of the entrance. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in the ardha mandapam. Stucco
Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum. In Koshtam
Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu and Brahma.
In ardha mandapam, Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena
Subramaniar, Bairavar, Chandran and Suriyan. In outer praharam, Chandikeswarar,
Navagrahas, Nagars along with a Shiva Lingam, Maha Vishnu and Anjaneyar.
Ambal Santhanayagi is in a separate sannidhi in ardha
mandapam facing South. Dwarapalakis are at the entrance Ambal is in standing
posture, with 4 hands. Upper hands are holding pasa and angusam and lower hands
are in abhaya varada hastam.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple was constructed in recent years without following any temple architecture. The mandapa pillars are the Vrudha pillars.
The temple from adhistanam to prastaram was constructed with stone. The
pilasters are Brahma kantha pilasters with vettu pothyals. An eka tala vesara
Vimanam is on the prastaram. Shiva, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, and Brahma are
in the greeva koshtam.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The original temple may belongs to 16th to
17th century and no inscriptions are found in the temple. The
Rajagopuram was constructed during the recent years.
Maha kumbhabhishekam was conducted in 2023.
LEGENDS
It is believed that Shiva facing west, has a lot of
powers to shower his devotees, with boons and he used to bless with Shanthi.
Devotees pray to Shiva and Ambal to get rid of marriage obstacles, Child boon, etc,. Hence Shiva is called Sri Santheeswarar and Ambal as Sri Santhanayagi.

Apart from regular poojas special poojas are conducted
on pradosham, maha Shivaratri, etc.

10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
