Swamigal was born at Thirubhuvanam. He was very good at studies, especially in
spiritual, and started meditation at a young age itself. He wandered here and
there, consuming very little food and sometimes only water. He never spoke to
anybody. He was taken to Kumbakonam as per a divine voice. He used to be in the samadhi state for many
hours, doing meditation, and the rest of the time, he used to do poojas to a
Shiva Lingam at the ashram. Many people have got blessings and feel their
problems are solved. Hearing his greatness, Devotees started pouring into the
Ashram, to get blessings of Mouna Swamigal. He used to bless his devotees with
a smiling face. His Chief disciple was Arunachala Swamigal also a Siddhar from
Thiruvannamalai.
Some of his devotees are Maha
Periyava ( He praised Mouna Swamigal as Siddha Purusha ), Swami Vivekananda (
on a trip to Kumbakonam came and worshipped Mounasmy, Annie Besant Ammaiyar, Arundale
of Brahmo Samaj and many Europeans.
Devotees used to break
coconuts in front of him and offer garments, some do annadhanam to the Devotees
gathered at the ashram after their wishes are fulfilled.
Mouna Swamigal attained Samadhi
on 22nd April 1899 CE. His body was taken around Kumbakonam, to
facilitate the people to offer their last respects. He was laid to rest in
