This
Mahalingeshwarar Temple at Sirukalathur is in the middle of the tank,
surrounded by water. The temple is small, a little away from human habitation.
The specialty of this temple is built in Gajaprishta style.

The
temple faces east with balipeedam and Rishabam. Moolavar in the sanctum is a little tall on round avudayar. In Koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha
Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai.
In
Praharam Vallaba Ganapathy, Nagars, Bairavar, and Navagrahas. Ambal Prahath
Sundara Kujambal is in a separate sannidhi facing South. Ambal is in standing
posture with abhaya varada hastam.
ARCHITECTURE
The
temple consists of sanctum sanctorum and an ardha mandapam. The total temple
was constructed completely with bricks. Constructed
in Gajaprishta style from adhistanam to Sigaram. No Architectural style was
followed. An Ekatala is on the sanctum sanctorum with 3 kalasas. Shiva,
Dakshinamurthy, Brahma, and Durgai are in the greeva koshtam.
HISTORY & INSCRIPTIONS
The
present structure was built and Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted in August 2014. The details of the original temple were not
known. Later a metacolour shed was provided in front of the sanctum sanctorum.
