This
18th century shiva temple is adjacent to the Sri Adhikesava Perumal
Temple, off Arunachalam Road, on Nainiappan Street, at Chintadripet, on the banks of river Koovam. Chinna - thari - Pettai ( ie the hand operated weaving
machine in Tamil is called as Thari and Chinna means small ) was changed
to Chintadripet.

Consort : Sri Tripura Sundari.
Some
of the important features of this temple are...
The
temple is facing east with and entrance arch. A 4 pillar mandapam is before the entrance arch. Deepa sthambam,
Palipedam, Dwajasthambam and nadhi are
in front of sanctorum.
In
the outer prakaram Sannadhi for Poorna, Pushkala Dharma Sastha, Guru
Dakshinamurthy Sannadhi, Mummalpedu Rathinasamy Chettiar Mandapam and Nagars and Shiva Lingas under Bodhi / peepal tree.
In
koshtam Dakshinamurthy, Mahavishnu, Brahma and Durgai. Moolavar looks cute
with alangaram.
ARCHITECTURE
The Temple was constructed with sanctum sanctorum, Artha mandapam and Maha mandapam which forms the inner prakaram.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The
temple, along with the adjacent AadhiKesava Perumal temple was built by Audiyappa
Narayana, a dubash to the British as per the instruction of British’s Govt. This is to motivate weavers to
take residence around these two temples. These temples were built at a cost of
18000 pagodas during 1730s.

The 1874 CE inscription records that Bhagirathi's grand daughter and Kamalammal's daughter Kokilambal constructed the Kodiyetru mandapam.
The 1782 CE inscription records that Kandivakku Venkataswamy Naicker's son K Parthasarathy constructed the Theerthavari mandapam.
TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The
temple will be kept opened between 06.30 hrs to 11.30 hrs and 17.00 hrs to
20.30 Hrs.
