After
the darshan of Arulmigu Srinivasa Perumal walked towards Sri Sadai Amman
temple of Marshalls Road which was about a kilometre on the banks of Holy River
Koovam.
Some
of the important features of this temple are .....
The
temple is facing North with an entrance arch over the mukha mandapam. The temple was under preparation for kumbhabhishekam and the poojas are
conducted to Urchavar. The main sanctum was kept closed. I could not see the
huge Sadai amman ( large among the 5 Sadai Ammans in this area namely Chinna
Sadai Amman, Manja Sadai amman, Sakthi Sadai Amman and Arul Maha Sadai amman ), Nagaraja with
the human face.
In
Prakaram sannadhi for Navagrahas, Urchavar, Saptha kannis and Nagars.
LEGENDS
As
per the legend, the original temple was in side the eye Hospital. The then
British Superintendent felt that the temple was unnecessary and ordered to demolish.
After the temple demolished he lost his eye sight. By the best effort of the
British doctors at that time he could not recovered back his eye sight. It was
told him that he lost his eye sight because of the demolition of the Sadai
Amman Temple. He got vision back after he built a new Sadai Amman Temple just
out side the eye hospital. Sadai Amman manifested upon a devotee and asked to built
4 more Sakthi temples near this temple.
