Sri Adhikesava Perumal Temple / ஸ்ரீ ஆதிகேசவ பெருமாள் கோயில், சிந்தாதிரிபேட்டை, Chintadripet, on the banks of river Cooum, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

This week end temples visits was to the temples at Chintadripet and Pudupet area on the banks of river Koovam. Chinna - thari - Pettai ( ie the hand operated weaving machine in Tamil is called as Thari  and Chinna means small ) was changed to Chintadripet.   Visited 5 temples by walk from Chintadripet suburban railway station. The first two temples visited are  18th century Vishnu and a Shiva temple.

Some of the important details are...
The temple is facing east with an entrance arch. Deepasthambham, Palipedam, Dwajasthambam and Garudan  are after the entrance arch. This temple shares some of the common facilities like temple tank,  with the adjacent Shiva temple.

In the outer prakaram chakrathalwar, Thayar Aadhi Lakshmi sannadhi, Aandal, Anjaneyar. The Sanctum sanctorum was built with sanctum, artha mandapam and a mukha mandapam.  Vimana over the sanctum is called Ananda Vimana. Sridevi Bhoodevi are with moolavar and urchavars are in front of Moolavar.

One of the pillars in the mukha mandapa has the relief of Pickshadanar, an another form of Lord shiva. Since both the temples were  constructed during the same period, pillars might have interchanged.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple, along with the adjacent Aadhipureeswara Shiva temple was built by Audiyappa Narayana, a dubash to the British asper British’s Govt. This is to motivate weavers to get residence around these two temples. These temples were built at a cost of 18000 pagodas  during 1730s. ( Some of the details Ref: The book on 'The Gods of Holy River koovam' by Priya Baskaran )

The temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 11.30 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 20.30 Hrs.

A relief of pickshadanar, another form of Lord Shiva in the mandapam pillar. Shiva temple pillar might have inter changed during construction.
