This
visit to the Sri Kothanda Ramar Temple was a part of the “Shiva, Vishnu and Amman Temples
Visit” in Pudupet, Chennai, on 27th April 2025.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple faces east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram. The temple is about 3 feet higher
than the road level. Balipeedam, dwajasthambam, and Garudan are after the
Rajagopuram. Dwarapalakas Jayan and Vijayan are at the entrance of the sanctum
sanctorum. Sri Ramar is with Sita, Lakshmanan, and Hanuman in the sanctum
sanctorum. Utsava murtis are in front of Moolavars.
In
praharam, Thumbigai Alwar, Chakarathalwar & Yoga Narasimhar, Sri Lakshmi
Hayagreevar, Adiseshan & Nagars, and Anjaneyar.
ARCHITECTURE
The
whole temple was constructed with cement and concrete. The sanctum sanctorum is
about 2 feet above the praharam level on adhistanam. A two-tier dravida vimanam
is on the sanctum sanctorum. Maha Vishnu’s various avatars are on the greeva
koshtam.
HISTORY
AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
was said that the temple is 30 years old.
LEGENDS
As
per the temple authorities, this is a Kariya Siddhi Sthalam. The devotees worship
Kothandaramar to solve problems in business and business ventures.
POOJAS
AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart
from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Margazhi Saturdays,
Ramanavami, Hanuman Jayanthi, etc.
TEMPLE
TIMINGS
The
temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs, and 18.00 hrs to 20.00
hrs. On Sundays, the temple will be closed for 1 hour longer than the usual time, both in the morning and evening.
