The
visit to this Sri Virupatchieswarar Temple, on the Vlatheswaran Koil Street, on
the back side of Keerai Mandapam Vinayagar Temple, was a part of the “Maha
Shivaratri 2025 Temples Visit”, on 26th February 2025, organized by Mr. Babu Mano and
Mr. Suresh Priyan.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with an entrance arch on the
south side. The entrance of like a small Rajagopuram. The balipeedam and
Rishabam are in front of the sanctum sanctorum.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum with a
mukha mandapam. The whole temple was constructed with bricks and cement
concrete. There are no images in the koshtams. The vimanam above the sanctum
sanctorum is of eka tala, and the sigaram is of Nagara style.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was said that the Shiva Lingam belongs to the 10th
to 11th Century, and the present structure belongs to 19 to 20th
Century.
The temple and Vikada Chakra Vinayagar Temples are
under the control of the Panamudeeswarar temple. Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted
on 10th September 2006.

Apart from oru kala pooja, special poojas are
conducted on pradosham, Maha Shivaratri, Margazhi Annabhishekam, etc.
TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since oru kala pooja is conducted, the opening and
closing times are unpredictable. But on Maha Shivaratri days, the temple will
be kept open during the day.

Kanchipuram Bus Stand and 3.6 km from Kanchipuram Railway Station.
