The 18^th Century saint Sri Sivagnana Swamigal, had written the sthala purana of this temple, in Kanchipuram under Sarva Theertha padalam.

1619   இருட்கொடும் பிறவி மாற்றும் இலகுளீச் சரமீ றாகத்

1643   இராமேச்சரம் - பரமாநந்த மண்டபம்

      உருவமென் கமலம் பூத்த உயர்சிவ கங்கைத் தென்பால்

      திருவிரா மேச்ச ரத்துச் சிவபிரான் திருமுன் னாக

      இருவினைப் பிறவிக் கஞ்சி எய்தினோர்க் குறுபே ரின்பம்

      மருவுறும் பரமா நந்த மண்டபம் ஒன்று மாதோ

1644   மண்டபம் இனைய மூன்றும் வைகறை எழுந்து நேசங்

      கொண்டுளம் நினையப் பெற்றோர் உணர்வெலாங் கொள்ளை கொண்ட

      பண்டைவல் வினையின் வீறும் பற்றிய மலங்கள் மூன்றும்

      விண்டுபே ரின்ப வெள்ள வேலையில் திளைத்து வாழ்வார்

There is no separate temple  for this Shiva Linga. The Shiva Linga is installed on the south side steps of Sarva theertha Kulam under a small mandapam called Paramananda mandapa. It is believed that the original Paramananda mandapa with Shiva Linga was built during 7^th to 8^th Century Pallava period.

LEGEND:

As per Sthala purana  those who get up early morning and worships Lord Shiva of this Paramanda manda mandapam will get relieved from all the three karmas ஆணவம், கன்மம் & மயை, ie, one should not think he is only great and the happening & its after effects called Anavam, The sins Sanjitha, Pirartham and Akaamiya, which follows from previous birth and Mayai, should not think that all are real.

The 18^th Century Sri Sivagnana Swamigal, who had written the sthala purana of the temples around Sarva Theertham has not specifically written some of the temples.  The original Text in Tamil about the importance of sarva theertham goes like this...

Some of the important details of these temples are...

Both temple are in a same complex with separate sannadhis on the eastern banks of Sarva Theertham Kulam. The entrance arch is on the south side. Hanuman stucco images are on the top of the arch.

The temples are small with sanctum sanctorum and a small vimanam, built not to compile to the agama. Navagrahas and Nagars are in the prakara. The Yogalingeswarar temple is said to be old. It was told that Hanuman temple was not mentioned in Kanchi purana, this temple might have been built at a latter date, may be Vijayanagara period.

The opening time is unpredictable and also the temple in under the renovation.

This Sri Kameswarar Temple is on the western banks of Sarva theertham Kulam spread over 20 cent land.

1625   ஏதமில் உயிர்கள் எல்லாந் தோற்றுதற் கேது வாகிக்

      கோதறத் தானம் ஈவோன் கொள்பவன் தானுந் தானாய்

      மேதகும் இறைமை பெற்று விளங்கினான் மறையோர் ஏற்கும்

      போதுளத் தவனை எண்ணிற் புரைதவிர்ந் துய்வா ரன்றே.

Some of the Salient features of this temple are...

The temple is facing east with entrance arch on the east side. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in the mukha mandapam. Moolavar is of 16 flat surfaced Dhara Linga on a padma avudaiyar. There is no koshta moortha and it was told that they were stolen away.

ARCHITECTURE

The temple consists of Sanctum Sanctorum, Artha mandapa, maha mandapa and mukha mandapa. The sanctum sanctorum was built with granite stones. A two tier Vesara Vimana is on the sanctum sanctorum.  It is believed that the original temple was built during 7^th to 8^th Century Pallava period.

LEGEND:

It is believed that Manmathan also called as Kaman installed this Shiva Linga to get success in all his end-overs / ventures and to get a good result. Hence Lord Shiva of this temple was called as Kama Eswarar or the Kameswarar

Some of the salient features of this temple are...

The temple is facing east with an entrance 3 tier Rajagopuram on the south side. Balipeedam, Rishabam under a mandapam are in front of the Mukha mandapam. Somaskandar is on the backside wall of the moolavar. Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai are in the koshtam. In the inner mandapam Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar, Suryan, Chandeswarar and Nageswarar. 

ARCHITECTURE

The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala artha mandapam and a mukha mandapam. A three tier nagara vimana  is over the adhishtanam with salas and karnakootas. Up to prastaram sanctum sanctorum was built with stone. The temple is believed to be built during 7th to 8th Century Pallava period with the Pallava icon of Somaskandar. 

The Annabhishekam with  maha deepa aradhana will be conducted on Ipasi month full moon day.

LEGENDS

As per Sthala purana, from Svedan, Sveda kethu, Sveda lokithan, Svedasikan, Svedachchuvan, Thanthubi  to Lakulishan and the rest of Rudras wishes to become Yogasariyas by doing severe penance at Kailash. Satisfied their penance, Lord Shiva asked them to go to Kanchipuram, establish Shiva temples on their names and worship to attain Yagasariyas. Except few the rest of the temples are missing now.

As per Sthala purana Thavalam- means Muthu - Pearl. Since there is a temple of the same name Mutheeswarar, to differentiate, this temple is called as Thavaleswarar.  In another version Manduga Maharishi in the form of Frog worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Hence Lord Shiva is called as Thavaleswarar. In another legend Chandran also worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple.

The temple is facing South. This temple is also called as Swayambu Yoga Dakshinamurthy and Guru Bhagavan Koil. The temple is in a simple construction with sanctum and a mukha mandapam. Stucco image of Sri Dakshinamurthy is on the top of the mukha mandapa. In Koshtam Brahma, Durgai and Dakshinamurthy. 

Sannidhis of Dharmesar, Nageswarar, Manapakkam Sri Kanniamman & Samayapuram Mariamman, Yoga Siddhar Swamigal, Bhairavar, Chandikeswarar, Somasundarar, Meenakshi Amman, Suriyan are in the prakara.

The 18^th Century Sri Sivagnana Swamigal had written the sthala puranam of Pandavecharam in his Kanchi puranam. Some of the salient features of this temple are....

The temple is facing east with and Entrance Arch. Paranjothi Amman’s stucco image is on the top of the arch. Separate sannadhis for Sri siddhi Vinayagar,  Sri Paranjothi Amman, Throwpathi / Draupadi Amman, Dharmaraja, Pandaveswar, Sikandeswar and Dharmeshwar. The Nagars are under a peepal tree. Stucco mages of  Krishna with Bhama & Rukmini, Paranjothi Amman and Shiva with Parvati are on the top of the mandapa.   All the three sannadhis are constructed in a row.

Draupadi Amman is treated as the main temple of this complex with balipeedam and Dwajasthambam. Stucco image of Draupadi is on top of the entrance.

Pandaveswar Shiva linga is kept along with Sri Vinayagar. It was told that both Dharmeshwar and Pandaveswar Shiva Lingas are found near the Railway track / Gate. It is believed that both belongs to Pallava Period. There is a kanthu in-front of Shiva Temple.

Pancha Pandavas installed and worshiped lord Shiva at Kanchipuram during their exile.

The temple will be kept open between 06.30 hrs to 11.30 hrs and 16.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs.

The temple is on the Railway Station Road,  ( Periya Kanchipuram ), East Railway Station

1.2 KM from Kanchipuram Bus stand, 2.1 KM from Kanchipuram Railway Station, 31 KM from Arakkonam Railway Junction and 80 KM from Chennai Central Station.

Nearest Railway Station is Kanchipuram and Nearest Railway Junction is Arakkonam.
