THE ADYAR – A CULTURAL MAPPING, ONE DAY TRIP TO THE TEMPLES AND HERITAGE SITES ON THE BANKS OF RIVER ADYAR. RACE COURSE AT GUINDY

A Continuation to the previous post.
27th August 2016
The race Course is a 200 and years old with a lodge, Three Pavilions, Gymkana Club (  constructed during 1933 ),  Race track of 2335 meters and Golf grounds in side the track.  When we went inside the race course it was a separate world is busily running inside the premises of Race Course.  The official explained us the details of the race ground,  turf  and betting ( learned very little – enough of it ).  It was very interesting to note that there is a swimming pool and thread mill for the horses too.  The Pavilions with chairs are  provided for members named after Dr MAM Ramaswamy and the middle  one  was constructed by the kings Bobbili and Venkatagiri during the year 1931, whose names are written on the stand.

There is an air-conditioned enclosure between the first and middle stand  meant for VIPs  like Chief minister and Governor. It was a panoramic sight to see the Madras for the top of the Dr. MAM Ramaswamy stand. There are many important events happened here including shooting of cinemas and love stories too.
