Race Course at Guindy, Guindy, Chennai, Tamil Nadu,

A Continuation to the previous post.
 27th August 2016
RACECOURSE AT GUINDY
The race Course is 200 years old with a lodge, Three Pavilions, a Gymkhana Club (  constructed in 1933 ), a Race track of 2335 meters, and Golf grounds inside the track.  When we went inside the race course it was a separate world busily running inside the premises of the Race Course.  The official explained to us the details of the race ground,  turf, and betting ( learned very little – enough of it ).  It was very interesting to note that there is a swimming pool and thread mill for the horses too.  The Pavilions with chairs are provided for members named after Dr MAM Ramaswamy and the middle one was constructed by the kings Bobbili and Venkatagiri during the year 1931, whose names are written on the stand.

There is an air-conditioned enclosure between the first and middle stand meant for VIPs like the Chief Minister and Governor. It was a panoramic sight to see the Madras at the top of the Dr. MAM Ramaswamy stand. There are many important events happening here including the shooting of cinemas and love stories too.
