a continuation post to Sri Udanna Virabhadrarar temple

This temple and is very near to Sri Uadanna
Veerabhadra temple dedicated to Chandikeswarar facing east. Originally this was
dedicated Vishnu called Thiruvengalanatha. The sanctum sanctorum consists of
sanctum, antarala, maha mandapa and mukha mandapa. We could see lot
of vaishnava related reliefs on the pillars like Hanuman, Garuda, Balakrishna,
Kamadhenu, Srinivasa, Vamana, Yashoda churning milk etc,. There is a petam with
Garuda's relief in the sanctum. The super structure of the sanctum was built
with brick and stucco images of Vaishnava. Thayar sannidhi is on the north west
corner. A Pillared cloister runs round the two sannadhis. Then how this
temple was called as Chandikeswarar Temple, do not know.
A Rishabam is sitting in the mandapam and a
Shiva Lingam also installed in one of the sannadhi. There is an Ambal sannidhi
built at a latter stage is on the left side of the moolavar sannadhi.
