SRI PASUPATHY NATH TEMPLE
After breakfast, we went to Sri Pasupathy Nath Shiva temple. Since in Nepal cows are treated as gods, leather items are not allowed in the temple which includes, a belt, purse, watch strap, etc. The temple is in a huge area. The Karpa Kirugam has 4 entrances, The moolavar has four faces that are chiseled on all four sides. Unlike other temples, the moolavar Gopuram is constructed in wood similar to Buddhist monasteries / Chinese temples. There is a huge Nandi in front of the moolavar, covered with brass metal sheets. This has got the recognition of UNESCO. There are about 1008 Shiva lingams installed, which will take at least 15 minutes to go around them. People from India throng this temple every day. The last rites were conducted for those who died at the temple and burnt near the temple ghat.
