This
is one of the Shiva & Vishnu temples constructed during the 13th
century by Kongu Chozha King Veera Rajendran ( 1207 CE to 1256 CE ) on the banks of river Amaravathi to get rid of
the Kiraka dosha ( a Solar eclipse happened on his birthday).
Moolavar : Sri Choleeswarar or Sri Thandaveswarar

This
temple faces east with a mottai gopuram & an entrance arch on the south side. Dwajasthambam, balipeedam, and Rishabam are immediately
after the entrance arch.
In
the outer prakaram sannadhi for Vinayagar, Agnisar, Chandikeswarar, Kala
Bairavar, Navagrahas, Shanieswarar, Suryan and Naalvar.
Amman
is in a separate temple facing the same direction as Moolavar. A Thavvai panel
is installed in front of the Ambal temple. Sabha mandapam is at an elevated level
with steps to climb.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, artha mandapam and a mukha
mandapam. In sanctum koshtam Dakshinamurthy and Durgai.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The 13th-century inscriptions are found around sanctum walls, kumudam, and sabha mandapam adhistanam kumudam also. The inscriptions mainly record the donations given to the temples.

temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs and 16.00 hrs to
20.00 hrs

is about 20 KM from Udumalpet and the bus is available from Udumalpet.
