One
of my Facebook friends, Mr Sivaramakrishnan, mentioned that this Vishnu Durgai
and the Shiva Linga were unearthed and installed in Manimangalam. It was said that they belonged to the Chozha period.
SRI VISHNU DURGAI TEMPLE.
This
Vishnu Durgai was unearthed during the Vardha cyclone last year. The statue was
under an uprooted Bodhi tree. Mr Logu,
who found out about this, Vishnu Durgai narrated the incidents and how it was installed in a separate temple. After
installation, they also made a Utsavar and kept it near the main statue. Archaeologists are of the opinion that this Durgai belongs to the Chozha Period.
This
Vishnu Durgai with 8 hands is standing on Mahisan's head, holding a Shankha disc
in the upper hand and weapons in the other hand. Under her feet, two people are sitting, of whom one is in a worshipping posture. In addition to this, there is a parrot and a deer relief. People
throng to this temple in large numbers on Tuesday’s Rahu kala pooja. It was
also learned that Tamil New Year's Day is being celebrated grandly, and Utsavar will be taken out for procession
through all the streets of Manimangalam.

SHIVA LINGAM:
This
Shiva lingam was also unearthed in recent years and kept under worship in a
private land. The Shiva Linga is in good shape, and Rishaba’s face was damaged.
As per the archaeologists, the Shiva Linga belongs to the Chozha period.
