Sri Vishnu Durga and Shiva Linga Temples of Manimangalam, near Padappai, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu.

17th September 2017.
One of my Facebook friends Mr Sivaramakrishnan mentioned that this Vishnu Durgai and the Shiva Linga are unearthed and installed in Manimangalam. It was told that they belong to the Chozha period.

SRI VISHNU DURGAI TEMPLE.
This Vishnu Durgai was unearthed during the Vardha cyclone last year. The statue was under an uprooted Bodhi tree. Mr Logu, who found out about this Vishnu Durgai narrated the incidents and how it was installed in a separate temple. After installation, they also made a Utsavar and kept it near the main statue. Archaeologists are of the opinion that this Durgai belongs to the Chozha Period.

This Vishnu Durgai with 8 hands is standing on Mahisan's head holding a Shankha disc in the upper hand and weapons in the other hand. Under her feet, two persons are sitting, of which one person is in a worshiping posture. In addition to this, there is a parrot and a deer relief. People throng to this temple in large numbers on Tuesday’s Rahu kala pooja. It was also learned that Tamil New Year's Day is being celebrated in a grand manner and Utsavar will be taken out for procession through all the streets of Manimangalam.
