Sri Vishnu Durga and Shiva Linga Temples of Manimangalam, near Padappai, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu.

One of my face book friend Mr Sivaramakrishnan mentioned about this Vishnu Durgai and the Shiva Linga are unearthed and installed in Manimangalam. It was told that they belongs to Chozha period.

SRI VISHNU DURGAI TEMPLE.
This Vishnu Durgai was unearthed during Vardha cyclone last year. The statue was under a  uprooted Bodhi tree. Mr Logu, who found out this Vishnu Durgai narrated the incidents and how it was  installed in a separate temple. After installation they also made an urchavar and kept near the main statue. Archaeologists of the opinion that this Durgai belongs to Chozha Period.

This Vishnu Durgai with 8 hands is standing on Mahisan's head holding conch and disc in the upper hands and weapons on the other hands. Under her feet there are two persons sitting, of which one person is  in worshiping posture. In addition to this there is parrot and a deer reliefs. People throngs to this temple in large numbers on Tuesday’s Rahu kala pooja. It was also learnt that Tamil new years day is being celebrated in a grand manner and urchavar  will be take out for procession through all the streets of Manimangalam.

SHIVA LINGAM:
This Shiva lingam is also unearthed in the recent years and kept under worship in a private land. The Shiva linga is in good shape and nandhi’s face was damaged. As per the archaeologists the Shiva Linga belongs to Chozha period.
