Arulmigu Vaalai Vembuli Amman Alayam, Nolambur, Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Sri Vaalai Vembuli Amman Temple at Nolambur, a part of Ambattur Industrial Estate was a part of the “Lesser Known Vishnu, Shiva, Amman Temples of Chennai Visit”, on 23rd October 2022. Most of the temples were reconstructed in recent years and some retain their original structure. All these temples have a long history of Pallava, Chozha, and Vijayanagar.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with a trance arch on the north side.  Amman is sitting on a pedestal / peedam with Trishul in the right hand.

In praharam, Nagars, Saptakannis, Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasea Subramaniyars, Kala Bairavar, Navagrahas, etc,.

ARCHITECTURE
The sanctum sanctorum is built on a raised level of about 3 feet. The temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum, Ardha mandapam and a mukha mandapam. Stucco images of Amman's Various forms are on the parapet wall of the mandapam and Temple.


HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The original temple may be 150 to 200 years old and was reconstructed completely with bricks and cement concrete during recent years.

LEGENDS
The Vembuli Amman is a Grama Devathai, a Village Guarding Deity, and a Nattar Deivam. It is believed that Vembuli Amman protects the Village from evil forces entering into the Village. Hence Amman will be in a ferocious look, with many hands, like Chatur bhujam or Ashta bhujam  ( 4, 8 hands ), holding various weapons to destroy the evil forces. The Evil forces may be in the form of spirits or diseases like smallpox, etc,.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Tuesdays, Fridays, Adi moth Fridays along with the Annual festival, Sankata hara Chaturthi, Vinayagar Chaturthi, Skandar Sashti etc,.

This year's Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar Thirukalyanam will be conducted on 31st October 2022, with Seervarisai starting from Sri Vaikunta Perumal Temple of Nolambur.

The temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 10.30 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
This Vembuli Amman is mid-way between Ambattur Industrial estate and Maduravoyal.
The temple is 2.9 KM from Ambattur Industrial Estate Bus Depot, 6 KM from Koyambedu bus terminus, and 12.7 KM from Chennai Central.
Nearest Railway station is Koyambedu Metro Station.
