Sri Veeramathi Amman Temple / ஸ்ரீ வீரமாத்தி அம்மன் கோயில், தாழ்குணி, Kumbhabhishekam festival, Talguni, near Gobichettipalayam, Erode District, Tamil Nadu.

I feel attending Kumbabishekam of Kula Deivam temple is a lifetime opportunity for me. Excited on hearing the date booked the train tickets to my native. This was a multipurpose visit. Attending Kumbhabhishekam, Seeing my Mom and attending the Srirangam Heritage Visit are coupled in this visit. Details of my previous visits and annual functions held are written in  separate posts in this blog ( 2012...2013....2014....2015....2016....2017 ). I was happy that a photo taken by me was printed and distributed to all devotees.

The Kumbhabhishekam date was announced in a meeting held at the temple with an estimate of expenditure.  On hearing, the amount was pouring in. Many The work start to finish was completed in scheduled time. Under stood that, the total expenses incurred towards provision for shed for dining, front pandal, painting, ladder arrangements were born by an individual, very great indeed.  Amman was moved out after conducting the palalyam pooja. The sanctum was fixed with granite tiles, Karuppanna Swamy was moved to in side of the shed and a new kannimar panel was also made and installed.

The Kumbhabhishekam was performed on 3rd November 2017 after performing the agama poojas and Homam. The temple was consecrated by pouring holy water on the vimana, Sri Veeramathi Amman, Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Kannimar and Sri Karuppaswamy  around 10 hrs. Prayed Sri Veeramathi Amman for her blessings.. Thanks maa..

Sri Utthara Guruvayoorappan Temple / Sri Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple / ஸ்ரீ உத்தர குருவாயூரப்பன் ஆலயம், Ram Nagar Nanganallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

29th October 2017.
This temple is on the way to Sri Vishwaroopa Anjaneyar Temple in RamNagar of Nanganallur. After the darshan of Sri Devi Karumari Amman, went to this temple.


Main Deity : Sri Guruvayoorappan

Some of the important features of this temple are...
The temple is facing east with a entrance arch. Palipedam and Dwajasthambam are immediately after the front entrance. The sanctum sanctorum consists of  sanctum  and 4 pillar mandapam with a gap in front of the main shrine. The construction is very similar to Guruvayur temple of Kerala, not with wood but with concrete in kerala architecture. Out side sannadhi brass lamps are  fixed like kerala temples. These lamps will be lit during Ekadasi, Pournami, Rohini and Ashtami days with special poojas.

In the outer prakaram sannadhi for  Sastha ie Iyappan, Prasanna Venkateswara, Ganapathy, Navagrahas, Bhagavathy. Sankarshana ( Nagar under peepal tree- Bodhi Tree )

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple is being managed by a private trust Guruvayoorappan Asthika Samajam. The temple belongs to late 20th century. The Trust also runs a Ayurveda Vaidyasala.

POOJAS AND RITUALS
It is a custom that 08.00 and 20.00 hrs, Urchavar is taken in a procession to eight directions ie ashta dikpalakas, of the prakaram and naivedyam is offered.

This temple is very close to Vishwaroopa Anjaneyar Temple on RamNagar of Nanganallur.
All the busses from St Thomas Mount Railway Station  to Madipakkam & Tambaram east passes through Vanuvampet Bus stop. From there the temple is about 1 KM and autos are available from Bus stop.
About 4 Km distance from St Thomas Mount Railway Station and 3 KM from Madipakkam.

Sri Devi Karumari Amman / ஸ்ரீ தேவி கருமாரி அம்மன் திருக்கோயில் & Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple, Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

After the darshan of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar, went to this Sri Devi Karumari Amman Temple, which is adjacent to Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar temple.


Deity : Sri Devi Karumari Amman

Some of the important features of this temple are..
The temple is facing east with a 4 tier rajagopuram. Tirisool, palipedam and Simha vahanam are immediately after the Rajagopuram  The sanctum sanctorum consists of a sanctum and a muka mandapam. Sri Devi Karumari Amman is in sitting posture and usual head Amman statue is in front. In Koshtam Vinayagar, Dhatchayani, Vaishnavi, Brahmi and Durgai.

In the prakaram sannadhi for Anjaneyar, A stucco image of Sri Karumari Amman in a glass enclosure, Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal, Maha Ganapathi, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar and Stucco image of Amman in front of devakoshta Durgai, facing east.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple belongs to 20th century, under the control of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple. Both  temples share the common shed erected on the 24th street for functions & Urchavams.

Sri Sarvamangala Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple / ஸ்ரீ ஸர்வமங்கள ஸ்ரீலஷ்மி ந்ருஸிம்ஹ ஸ்வாமி ஆலயம், Thillai Ganga Nagar, Nanganallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Initially thought of visiting Sri Devi Karumariamman Temple on the Thoraipakkam to Airport inner Ring road. When I went near the temple, happened to see a Vimana on the two story building written as Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple and had the darshan of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar  constructed very much similar to Sri Rajeswari Amman temple just two to three streets away from this temple. 

Moolavar : Sri  Sarvamangala Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar

Some of the important features of this temple are…
The Temple is a house like construction and Moolavar is on the first floor. The entrance of from south. Moolavar is facing East with a small dwajasthambam and balipedam. Garudalwar is under moolavar’s feet.  Moolavar is about 8 feet tall. Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar is in sitting posture with Lakshmi on his lap under 5 hooded Nagar. Urchavars are in front of moolavar.

Sannidhi for Chakkarathalwar, Thumbikai alwar ( Vinayagar ) and Dhanvantri are on the side of the main sannidhi. Stucco images of Perumal’s avathara are on the pillars of the Floor.  Vimana is above the sannadhi built on the second floor. In  Ground floor,  Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar sannidhi  is supported on a single pillar  and the rest of the open space hall is left for celebrating functions and discourses. All important functions are celebrated in this temple.

Mata Sree Bhuvaneswari Amman Temple / Bhuvaneswari Amman Temple / புவனேஸ்வரி அம்மன் கோவில், ஆதம்பாக்கம், Uthira Navasalapuri, Puthukai, Andal Nagar, West Velachery, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

This week end temples visit was to the Temples in Nanganallur and Adambakkam. Mata Sri Bhuvaneswari Amman Temple is the first temple visited on 29th October 2017 which is about 2 KM from my residence.


Presiding Deity : Sri Bhuvaneswari Amman.

Some of the important features of this temple are..
The temple is facing south with an entrance arch. Amman is in sitting posture. Mazhu and Pasam are in upper hands. Lower hands are in abaya and vara hastham.  Maha meru is in front with Urchavar. Varaki and Rajamathangi area at the entrance of the sannadhi in addition to Vinayagar and Subramaniyar. In koshtam Panchamuga Anjaneyar, Durgai and Iyappan.

In the prakaram sannadhi for Vinayagar, Sri Shanthanantha Swamikal, Dhathreyar foot prints, Navagrahas, Shiva Lingam with nandhi under Bilva / Vilva tree.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple was constructed during the year 1982 CE and maintained by Sri Bhuvaneswari Bhaktha Mandali. Sri Shanthanantha Swamigal was the instrumental in establishing Sri Bhuvaneswari peetam of Pudukottai. 


His Guru Sadasiva Brahmendra Saraswathi  Swamigal, Sri Swayamprakasha Brahmendra Saraswati Swamigal and Sri Santhananda Brahmendra Saraswati Swamigal

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas, all important festival are celebrated, especially the navarathiri.

Sri Ellai Amman Temple / Sri Ellaiamman Temple, அருள்மிகு ஸ்ரீ எல்லை அம்மன் ஆலயம், மேற்கு மாம்பலம், West Mambalam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

23rd October 2017.
The last of temples visit in West Mambalam was the Ellai Amman Temple. This is the Village guarding deity, who protects the village  from the bad elements. Normally these deities are installed on the boundary of the village. Now due to urbanization, these Ellai Amman has came to the part of the Village.


This Ellai Amman is facing east with an entrance  3 tier Rajagopuram on the north side. Her Vahana Simham and balipeedam are in front. On the South side wall, stucco images of Amman's various forms with Ellaiamman in the center. Nagar is under the neem tree. The Temple may be constructed during late 20th century.

HOW TO REACH:
This temple is very near to Sr Kasi Viswanathar temple, which is at the end of Madley road bridge.
The temple is about a KM distance for Mambalam Sub-Urban railway station and 2 KM distance from T Nagar Bus terminus.

Om Murugashramam / அருள்மிகு ஓம் முருகாஸ்ரமம், மேற்கு மாம்பலம், West Mambalam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

23rd October 2017.
This temple is in between Ayodhya Mandapam and Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal Temple, on the same Street. Bhajans are in progress in connection with Kantha Sasti, during my visit to this temple.


Presiding deity: Sri Murugan.

This ashram or the Murugan temple was established by Sri Shankarananda Swamiji a disciple of Shantananda Swamiji of Skandasramam, Salem. Swamiji had written a book on Thiru Kumaranadiyar Puranam in which he narrates  the sequences of incidents to the establishment of this ashram. It was assumed that he might have been born in the year 1924 or 1925. Till 1970 he spend his life towards development of his family. 

He Visited daily Vadapalani  Murugan Temple and became an ardent devotee of lord Muruga. In 1970s he started getting dreams of constructing a Murugan temple. In the mean time he met Kanchi Periyava and Thirukovilur Gyannanda Swamikal.  On 12-10-1971, his wife suggested to construct a Murugan Temple in the vacant space of their house without knowing Lord Muruga instructed him in the dream. Initially a Photo of Lord Muruga was kept in a make shift shed and started prayer from 12-11-1971.

Swamiji restored about 200 old dilapidated temples with the guidance of Lord Muruga. When his guru Gnanananda attained Samadhi, Swamiji had seen a light was entering in his gurus photo kept in the ashram. In 1984 a murugan idol was installed and kumbhabhishekam was performed by Sri Santhananda Swamiji after constructing a small vimana on a hexagonal sanctum. Murugan idol looks small kid, a matured adult and an old man in different angles.

Swamiji entered in to sainthood from 10-02-2002 as per the instruction of Lord Muruga. At the age of 86, Swamiji constructed a Mahatripurasundari temple at Arungundram as per the instruction of Goddess Parvati.

Swamiji attained Samadhi on 14th January 2017 and wanted his Samadhi to be built at Arungundram. A sannadhi was also constructed with a hand full of mud was brought from his Arungundram Samadhi.
