Sri Varasiddhi Vinayagar Temple / ஸ்ரீ வரசித்தி வினாயகர் கோயில் at Kotturpuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Planned to visit 5 Vinayagar temples on this auspicious Vinayagar Chathurthi day, but the rain spoiled my program, and able to visit only three Vinayagar Temples. This Sri Vara Siddhi Vinayagar temple is before the start of the Kotturpuram Bridge on Gandhi Mandapam Road.

Moolavar : Sri Varasiddhi Vinayagar.

The temple was constructed in the mid-20th century and dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram.

In the prakaram sannidhi for Navagrahas, Shantha Anjaneyar ( also with a separate approach from the Main road constructed at the end of 2016). In koshtam Dakshinamurthy, Surya Narayanan and Kanaga Durgai Amman. Nagars are under the Bodhi tree. At the entrance of the Vinayagar Sannidhi on the left Bala Murugan and Narayanan is on the right.

HISTORY

Kumbhabhishekam was conducted after the construction of Rajagopuram in 1985 and the function was presided over by the late President R Venkataraman and Governor C Subramaniam. Major Contributions for the Rajagopuram and the temple construction were from Dr M A Chidambaram and his family.

During the 2015 flood in the Adyar river, the water went above Vinayagar, and Kumbhabhishekam was also conducted after the flood. The temple land, Housing Board, and the Road From Kotturpuram signal were once private property (Arcot Nawabs Dr. MA Chidambaram bought the same ), and the bridge was constructed after acquiring the land by the   Government of Tamilnadu during DMK rule.

The late Chief Minister J Jayalalitha used to stop and worship Lord Sri Varasiddhi Vinayagar whenever she passed through this route.

TEMPLE TIMINGS:

The temple will be kept open between 07.00 Hrs to 10.30 Hrs and 17.00 hrs to 20.30 Hrs.

Town bus routes nos 5C, 12, 18B, 21G, 47C, F54, G21, and S17 pass this temple and get down at the Kotturpuram bus stop.
