KANISAPAKKAM.
This
visit to this place was a part of the Ahimsa walk organized by the Tamil Jain
Community under the leadership of Perani Mr. Sridharan Appandairaj. From the evidence of sculptures and statues unearthed from this peaceful village, Kanisapakkam, has more than
2500 years old history. The village deities Ellai Pidari Amman Temples, Shiva Temple, Vishnu
Temple, and Jinalaya may belong to different
periods.
This
Tirthankara was identified about 4 years
ago. The villagers called this Tirthankara Buddha. The Tirthankara was found in the bushes, later it was shifted to a Murugan temple and then to
this present place called “Kaman Swamy Temple”. A shelter was constructed through donations, and the pooja was conducted on 4th
November 2018.
The
Tirthankara was partially damaged on the sides. The image is simple with Mukkudai.
Traces of samara / chauri or the whisk
bearers are found on the sides. Tamil
inscriptions are found behind the Tirthankara image. From the style of letters
and the iconography, the experts believe that this Tirthankara may
belong to the 11th century or even before.
தீர்த்தங்கரர் முக்குடையுடன் மிகவும் சாதாரணமாகவே காணப்பட்டார். சாமரதாரிகளோ அன்றி சாமரமோ காணவில்லை.சாமரம் இருக்கவேண்டிய இடத்தில் சிறு புடைப்பு மட்டுமே காணப்பட்டது. தீர்தங்கரரின் பின்புறம் தமிழ் கல்வெட்டு எழுத்துக்கள் சேதம் அடைந்த நிலையில் காணப்பட்டது. இத்தீர்த்தங்கரர் 11 நூற்றாண்டு எனக் கூறப்பட்டது.
தீர்த்தங்கரர் முக்குடையுடன் மிகவும் சாதாரணமாகவே காணப்பட்டார். சாமரதாரிகளோ அன்றி சாமரமோ காணவில்லை.சாமரம் இருக்கவேண்டிய இடத்தில் சிறு புடைப்பு மட்டுமே காணப்பட்டது. தீர்தங்கரரின் பின்புறம் தமிழ் கல்வெட்டு எழுத்துக்கள் சேதம் அடைந்த நிலையில் காணப்பட்டது. இத்தீர்த்தங்கரர் 11 நூற்றாண்டு எனக் கூறப்பட்டது.

KONGARAYANALLUR
After
the consecration function of the Tirthankara of Kanisapakkam, on the way to
Chennai, we five of us went to see the Tirthankara at Kongarayanallur, about
10 km off from the Chennai to Kumbakonam bus route.
This
Tirthankara is under an open, unfinished shelter near to water tank. This Tirthankara was
also unearthed in recent years from the bushes. This Tirthankara is very simple, sitting on a
simhasana. Mukkudai and Ashoka creepers are shown on the top. No whisk or Whisk
bearers are shown. The image was redone before installation on the structure.
தீர்த்தங்கரர் காங்கிரீட்டால் கட்டி முடிக்கப்படாத முக்குடை போன்ற அமைப்பின் கீழ் அமர்த்தப்பட்டு இருந்தார். தீர்தங்கரர் சிற்பம் ஒழுங்கு படுத்தப்பட்டு இருந்தது. சாமரதாரிகள் காட்டப்படவில்லை. முக்குடையும் அசோக விருக்ஷம் மட்டும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தது. சிலை திருத்தப்பட்டு இருந்ததால் காலம் காணக்கூடவில்லை.
