It
was planned to Visit some of the Temples, heritage monuments, Balancing rock (Appukal), etc in and around Arcot after attending a friend’s Son marriage at Walajapet near Ranipet in
Vellore District on 10th March
2019. It was decided to join Mr. Ramesh at Arcot around 09.00
hrs after the marriage. Since the marriage was over around 08.00 hrs, thought
of Visiting one of the Shiva Temples at Walajapet.

of the important details of this temple
are…
The
temple’s car is on the street of the temple. The temple faces east with an
entrance arch was constructed in the form of Mount Kailash
on the south side. Two stucco elephants are on both sides. Balipedam, Dwajasthambam, and Rishabam are in front.
In koshtam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai. In the outer prakaram sannadhi for Vinayagar, Vahanas, Ayyappan, Mruthyunjaya with Visalakshi, 63var, Navagrahas. Ambal shrine is in the artha mandapam facing south.
ARCHITECTURE
The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum,
antarala, and artha mandapam. An open muka mandapam is on the south side between the entrance arch and the artha mandapam. The
sanctum is on a simple padabandha adhisthana.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The
temple doesn’t have any inscriptions and may be 300 to 400 years old ie,
constructed during the Nayak period.
TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The
temple will be kept open between 08.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to
19.00 Hrs.
HOW TO REACH:
The
temple is about a KM from the Walajapet bus
stand,
Walajapet
is on the Chennai – Bangalore National Highway.
The
Kanchipuram private and Govt buses are plying through this place. If you are
traveling by express buses, please get down at Tollgate and from there you can reach through private
buses or share an auto.
