INSCRIPTION:
As per the Kaliyur 1006 CE Kannada inscription ( Jayasthamabam ), Aprameya, who belongs to Koththamangala and  one of the Chieftain of Chozha King Rajaraja-I. He was responsible for the Chozha's victory over the 18 small regional kings of Gangas & Hoysalas, which includes  Goyika, Bhoothukan, Senavaraa, Nolamban, Sandhika, Ponthaa, Nagavarma, Sirisu and Naragas. This Kannada inscription may be for announcing the local people that the ruling power was transferred to Chozhas. He established the Chozha rule in Ganga Nadu, the present southern part of Karnataka.

He also built a Vishnu temple at DoddaMallur and called as “Aprameya Vinnagar” and the presiding deity is being called as "Aprameya Vinnagarathalwar". One of the inscription mentions this place as "Kizhalai Nattu Periya Mazhuvur". Latter the "Periya" was translated to "Dodda" in Kannada and Mazhuvur got corrupted to Maalur, finally obtained the name as Doddamaalur/ Doddamallur.

Aprameyan constructed this "Aprameya Vinnagarathalwar" after the victory of Chozhas against Gangas, Nulambas, and Hoysalas. One of his inscription is inscribed along with the Chozha's Tiger symbol as a Victory symbol. ( Thanks to Srinivas ).
