15th September 2019.
The visit to the Sri Madhava Perumal Temple was part of the Temples' Visit in and around Sirkazhi on September 15th. After Sri Purushothama Perumal’s darshan, our next destination was the Thiruvali Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal Temple. This is the 38th Divya Desam of 108 Divya Desam temples dedicated to Vishnu and mangalasasanam (10 Pasurams) was done by Thirumangai Alwar. This temple is one of the 11 Divya Desams, also called Thirunangur Tirupathis, around Thirunangur. On the way to Thiruvali, we came across this place and visited it without knowing it was a Divya Desam.

LEGEND
As per the legend, Lord Vishnu married Goddess Lakshmi, who
emerged out of the Thiruparkadal at this place. The Devas came in a group
( Thogai in Tamil). This place is called Thiru Thevanar Thogai ( Thiruthevanarthogai
). It is situated on the South bank of river Manni, a branch of River Kaveri.
In another legend, Lord Shiva danced in anger at the death of his
consort in the Yagna of Daksha. In the
process of dance, his lock of hair
touches the ground 11 times, i.e., 11 forms of Shivas appeared. Devas was afraid of
this and sought the help of Lord Vishnu. Shiva’s anger reduced after seeing Vishnu, and he asked him to appear in 11 places in different forms. Vishnu appeared in 11
temples in different forms around Thirunangur. These Rudras are called Ekadasa Rudras or Kings of Devas.
