Sri Veera Narasimha Perumal Temple / Sri Veera Narasimma Perumal Temple, Mangaimadam, Mayiladuthurai District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Sri Veera Narasimha Perumal Temple was a part of the Temples Visit, in and around Sirkazhi on 15th September.  After Thirukurayalur Ugra Narasimhar’s darshan, our next destination was the Mangaimadam Sri Veera Narasimha Perumal Temple. This temple is the second Pancha Narasimha Temple around Thirunangur. This place was also called Thirumangai Valanadu.

Some of the important features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with an entrance arch with a stucco image of Veera Narasimhar with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. In addition to this Periya Thiruvadi is on the left and siriya thiruvadi is on the right ( Hanuman ). A 3-tier rajagopuram is at the entrance of the Temple complex. Vishwaksena is in front of the Rajagopuram. Balipeedam, Dwajasthambam, and Garudalwar sannadhi are after the Rajagopuram. In the sanctum, Veera Narasimhar is with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Urchavar Sri Ranganathar is with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Thirumangai Alwar with Kumudavalli Nachiyar sannadhi is in the mukha mandapam and Anjaneyar is on the opposite side.

ARCHITECTURE.
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, artha mandapam and a mukha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a simple pada bhandha adhistanam. There are no idols in the koshtams / Niches.  A Two-tier Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum and the Vimanam is called Sri kara Vimana.
  

FESTIVALS & CELEBRATIONS
Narasimha Jayanthi, Aadi month Brahmotsavam, Sri Jayanthi, Navarathri, Tamil New Year Day, Alwars Mangalasasanam Day, Thai Amavasai ( No moon day ) and Vaikunta Ekadasi are celebrated in a grand manner. In addition to this Swati Nakshatra yaga, Thirumanjanam, and Amavasai Thirumanjanam are conducted regularly.
 
LEGENDS.
Kaliyan also known as Parakalan and Ruler of Alinadu turned Alwar, Thirumangai Alwar had performed Thathiarathana for a period of one year to 1008 Vaishnavas, to get married Kumudhavalli Nachiyar. Thirumangai Mannan was born as Brahman called Karma Prajapathi in Krita yuga, as Kshatriya King called Uparisravas in Treta yuga, as Vaishnava called Vairamohan (A Vel Kula merchant)  in Dwapara yuga worshiped Lord Veera Narasimha Perumal of this temple. Hence Perumal is called as Vaira Perumal. In Kali yuga Thirumangai Mannan who was born at Thirukurayalur was taught (upadesam ) the Thirumanthiram NARAYANA by the Lord Veera Narasimha Perumal of this temple. 
  
It is believed that worshiping Lord Veera Narasimhar will fulfill the wishes for Navagraha Dosha nivarthi, Victory in court cases, marriages, Child boon, government jobs, Cure from diseases, relief from mental stress and tension, etc.
 
TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The temple will be kept open between 08.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH:
This Mangaimadam Temple is about 13 KM from Sirkazhi and about 37 KM from Chidambaram.
Sirkazhi to Poompuhar buses pass through this Village Mangaimadam.
Nearest Railway Station is Sirkazhi.
