LEGEND:
As per sthala purana after Hiranyakashipu’s samharam,  Narasimhar was very ferocious and uncontrollable.  So Devas prayed to Thayar Lakshmi to cool Narasimhar. Lakshmi came and sat on Narasimhar’s right lap. Narasimhar cooled down and embraced her, in alingna form. Hence this place is called Thiruvali.

The place is equal to Badrikashram. This is the next place where Vishnu gave the upadesam of the Narayana mantra to Thirumangai Alwar. The marriage of Thirumangai Nachiyar and KumudaValli Nachiyar took place here.
