The
Visit to this Sri Arumuga Swamy Temple, at Tiruchengode was a part of Namakkal
District Temples and Heritage sites Visit on 24th February 2024. This
Sri Arumugaswamy Temple is at the beginning of the footsteps to Sri
Ardhanareeswarar Temple on the Tiruchengode Hill..

Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
This
temple is facing east with Peacock vahana mandapam. Dwajasthambam and
balipeedam are in the maha mandapam. Moolavar in the sanctum is with 6 faces
and 12 hands sitting peacock. There is no images in the koshtams.
In
praharam Sapta kannis and Chandikeswarar.

ARCHITECTURE
The
temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam and a maha
mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a pada bandha adhistanam with jagathy,
threepatta kumudam and pattika. The bhitti starts with vedika. The pilasters
are of brahma kantha pilasters with kalasam, kudam palakai and pushpa pothyal.
The deva koshtas are of sala style. The
prastaram consists of valapi and kapotam with nasi kudus. A two tala brick
vesara vimanam is on the bhumidesam. Stucco images of Murugan’s various
postures with Sri Valli Devasena are in the tala and greeva koshtams.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
is believed that the temple belongs to 16th to 17th
Century. Latter kettimudalis contributions are extended along with Sri
Ardhanareeswarar Hill Temple. The temple
is under the control of Shiva’s temple.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart
from regular poojas special poojas are conducted on Fridays, Kiruthigai,
Thaipoosam, etc,.

The
temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs. to 12.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs. to
20.30 hrs.
