19th
February 2018.
After
the darshan of Sri Kali, at Madras Kali Bari Temple, noticed an arch on Umapathy
Street at the entrance of Appasamy
Street. The name written is Sri Angala
Parameswari temple ( Putru Koil ) புற்றுக் கோவில். Thought this may be one of the Kaaval Theivam
of Mambalam. The Temple inscription
disappointed me and the temple was built in
1978, in the recent years.
Main Deity: Sri Angala Parameswari Amman.
Some of the important details are as follows......
The
Temple faces North with a 3-tier Rajagopuram at the end of Appasamy Street. The temple is very
small and kept neat and clean.
Amman
is in a sitting posture with simham, and balipeedam in front. In Koshtam, Ganapathy, Dakshinamurthy, and
Siva Durgai. Sannadhi for Navagrahas, Ayyappan, Valli Devasena Subramaniar,
Saptha Kanniyar, and Urchavar are around the sanctum. A putru.. an Ant
Hill is on the west side of the sanctum.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
As
per the inscription the temple was constructed by one Mr Poongavana Nayakkar
during 1978. Since Ant Hill seems to be older than the temple, there must
be an old temple existed at this place.
TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The
temple will be kept open between 06.30
hrs to 10.30 hrs and 17.30 hrs to 20.00 hrs.
HOW TO REACH:
The
temple is very near to Sri Madras Kali Bari Temple.
About
2 KM from Mambalam Sub-urban Railway station
The nearest Bus stop is the Anjugam school bus stop. (1G, 11H, 12G, 5T)
