planned on Sunday. It was pending for a
long period to get clarifications from the Poojari of Nava Sakthi Pidari Sri Kaliamman temple of
Ashok Nagar, one of the EllaiAmman of Mambalam. I was lucky this time. He
guided me to go to the Sri Nagathamman Temple on the border of Ashok Nagar and
KK Nagar.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was told
that the presiding deity Amman ( Amman’s head under the Amman kept in a sitting
posture ) and the Amman under peepal
tree are found while plowing in the same place, which was once an agricultural
land. Poojari said that he does not know, from when the original temple existed,
but may be 400 to 500 years old. The
present temple was constructed about 50 years before and Kumbhabhishekam was conducted in the year 1993.
He also said this is also an Ellaiamman Temple of Ashok Nagar ( originally it
was a part of the Mambalam area ) and KK
