After Anathur Tirthangarar's visit, our next destination was Sri Mallinathar Jinalayam at Perumbugai.

ஆனதூர் தீர்த்தங்கரர் தரிசனத்திற்க்குப் பிறகு எங்கள் பயணம் பெரும்புகை ஸ்ரீ மல்லிநாதர் ஜீனாலயத்தை நோக்கி. ஜீனாலயம் கிழக்கு நோக்கி கட்டப்பட்டு உள்ளது. முன் வாசல் வழியே நுழைந்த உடன்  இருப்பவை பலிபீடமும் மானஸ்தம்பமும். இந்த ஜீனாலயம் 11ம் நூற்றாண்டு சோழர் காலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது என்று நம்பப்படுகின்றது.  மண்டப தூண்களில் தீர்தங்கரர்கள், பிரமதேவர், ஜ்வலாமாலினி, தர்மதேவி சிற்பங்கள் புடைசிற்பங்களாக செதுக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. இது 15ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சார்ந்தது என்பது அறிஞர்களின் கருத்து. கருவறையின் பின்புற சுவர்களில் 16 கல்வி தேவிகளின் சுதை சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளது. விமானத்தில் தீர்தங்கரர்கள், ஜீன சாசன தேவர்கள், ஜீனவானி, ஸ்ருதஸ்கந்தம் சிற்பங்கள் சுதை, கல் மற்றும் உலோகத்தாலும் செய்யப்பட்ட சிலைகள் உள்ளன.

The Jenalaya is facing east with an entrance arch with a swastika symbol. Balipeedam and manasthambam are immediately after the entrance arch.

ARCHITECTURE

The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, Mandapam. Urchavars are kept in the mandapam. The Adhistanam is of simple pada bandjha adhistanam with three patta kumudam on a raised platform. The Vimanam is of vesara and also has metal, stone, and stucco images of Tirthankaras, jina sasana devathas, Sruthaskandham, Jinavani, etc,. The outer walls have stucco images of 16  Vidya devis ( edification of a goddess ).  The recent years Padmavathy yakshi has been in a separate shrine on the right side.

On the Pillars of the mandap Tirthankaras, Brahma Devar, Jwalamalini, and Dharmadevi are engraved, which belong to the 15^th century Vijayanagara Period.

It was said that the temple was built 11^th century, during the Chozha period and there is no inscription found. The front  mandapam was built during the Vijayanagara period.

The opening time is unpredictable and one of the ladies who does the service is kept open for darshan on request.

Perumpukai is about  7 KM from Gingee. And about 1.7 KM from Uranithangal.

Uranithangal is on the bus route from Tindivanam to Thiruvannamalai / Tiruvannamalai.
