04th February 2019.
As a part of the Kongu Temples Heritage visit, Sri Neelakandeswarar Darshan went to this temple just opposite Shiva Temple on 04th Feb 2019 at Kanjikovil near Kavindapadi in Erode District. It was a long wish to visit the Shiva Vishnu and Sri Seedevi Amman Temples. Visited all the three temples during my recent Visit.

As per the inscriptions this place Kanjikoil was called “Kanjikooval”. Literature mentions this place as “Kanji Nagar”, “KanjiNallur”, “Thalainja Nallur” and “Kunguma Nallur”.

Moolavar   : Sri Karivaradharaja Perumal
Thayar      : Sridevi and Bhudevi

The salient features of this temple are…
The temple faces east with a Garudathoon / Deepa Sthamba on the other side of the road. An entrance arch is in front. Balipeedam and Garudalwar with Nagar  are immediately after the entrance arch.

ARCHITECTURE
The temple is very simple with sanctum sanctorum and ardha mandapam. Moolavar is in standing posture with Sridevi and Bhudevi. The Mukha mandapam is of metacolour sheet shed.  Anjaneyar sannidhi is on the right side of the Northeast corner  of the premises.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
There are no inscriptions found. Since this temple is just opposite to the Chera / Kongu Chozha Period Shiva temple, this temple might have been constructed during the same period.

TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs. However, the opening and closing are unpredictable due to a lack of devotees.

HOW TO REACH:
About 8 KM from Kavindapadi and 10 KM from Perundurai.
Buses are available from Gobichettipalayam, Kavindapadi, Perundurai and Erode.
