I
used to pass through Taramani bus Terminus daily to reach my office near
Madhya Kailash. A barricaded temple pond with a temple is on the east side of the bus
terminus. Had the chance of visiting this temple on 12th April 2019.

Some
of the important details are…
The
temple is facing north. The sanctum sanctorum consists of a sanctum, antarala, and
an open mukha mandapam. Balipeedam and Simha vahanam are in the open mukha
mandapam. Dwarabalakis are on the mandapa pillars in the form of stucco
images. Vinayagar and Balamurugan are at the entrance of the sanctum. In
koshtam Abirami, Dakshinamurthy ( south side ) and Durgai. Amman is in a sitting posture with another small
Amman at her feet. Unlike other Amman temples the Vimana over the sanctum is of
two tiers with a single kalasam is a unique feature of this temple. Saptakannis are on the west side of the praharam.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
is said that this Peeli Amman is an Ellai Pidari Amman to Taramani. About 300
to 400 years old. Originally Amman was in a shed under a Neem tree. This new
temple was built in recent years.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from Daily Pooja, a 3-day annual festival
is being celebrated during the Tamil month of Adi.

The
temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs.
HOW TO Reach
The
temple is on the east side of the Taramani Bus terminus and Route Bus 5C used to stop at the terminus.
Can
also be reached from IT park acentos and
Tharamani Link Road.
