Menhirs Worshiped as Muneeswaran & Veeraiyan & Veerayi, Memorial Stones, Kayar, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Muneeswaran Temple was not planned earlier and not  a part of Pallava and Chozha period temples, scheduled on 24th November 2019. After visiting Sri Adaleswarar Temple’s Visit, on the way to Sri Kamala Narayana Perumal Temple, happened to these menhir worshiped as Muneeswaran. This menhir belongs to 3000 to 4000 years old stone age. Some of the menhirs with inscriptions belongs to recent periods along with Muneeswaran. Probably installed in memory of their ancestors with their names inscribed.
 

Annual pooja is conducted with offering of pongal and sacrificing of Goat / Cock. Suruttu a variety of tobacco product and liquor are offered to this Muneeswaran.

HOW TO REACH:
City bus route no 555M from Tambaram to Thiruporur passes through this Village Kayar and Mambakkam.     
Kayar is about 9.1 KM from Mambakkam, 10 KM from Thiruporur and 29 KM from Tambaram.

VEERAIYAN & VEERAYI MEMORIAL STONES
Just before the Village Kayar happened to see this Memorial stones near a Vinayagar Temple, on the road side. The images are called as Veeraiyan and Veerayi. It was told that this memorial stone was in the field and the same was shifted to this present place. Looking at the tuft these memorial stones may belongs to Nayak period ie 17th to 18th Century.
