The
visit to this Agaram Sri Kailasanathar Temple was a part of the Pallava and Choha period temple Visit scheduled on 24th November
2019. After the Mullipakkam Sri Parasuramar Temple visit, had went to this temple,
which is on the way to Manampathy and about 500 meters from the Mullipakkam and
Manampathy road Junction.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are…
The
temple faces east with an entrance arch. Balipeedam and Nandhi are in front of the temple. The Temple is about 3 feet above the ground level with a flight
of 5 steps. The sanctum sanctorum consists of Sanctum, antarala, artha mandapam
and a maha mandapam. Moolavar is a little
big and looks majestic.
In
koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Mahavishnu, Brahma and Durgai. In prakaram Ambal sannidhi facing east, Chandikeswarar. In the maha mandapam Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar,
some loose sculptures, Bhairavar and Navagrahas. The Navagrahas are in sitting
posture on their respective vahanas.
ARCHITECTURE.
The
Sanctum sanctorum was built on a "Sroni Pandham - "ஸ்ரோணி பெந்தம்"- Padmam at jagathy, jagathy and three patta Kumuda adhistanam. Vimana was built over
the sanctum do not comply with any Silpa Sasthira or agama. A small Vimana like Ambal vimanam was built (an unknown contractor had done it).
The
artha mandapam was built during the Vijayanagara period and is supported by 16
pillars with reliefs like Garudan, Natarajar, Hanuman playing Mridangam, etc.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The
adhisthana has 12th to 13th Century and 16th-century inscriptions. The Original temple might have been constructed
during Chozha's period and later extended during Vijayanagara's period.

Since
orkala pooja is conducted opening and closing times are unpredictable.
HOW TO REACH:
The
temple is about 500 meters from the Village.
Agaram
is about a KM from Manampathy, 18.6 KM
from Thiruporur, 12 KM from Tirukalukundram, and 15 KM from Chengalpattu.
Nearest
Railway station is Chengalpattu.
