This Village was gifted to Brahmins and called as Kamala Narayana Chathurvedi Mangalam.  And the presiding deity is also called as Kamala Narayana Perumal. As per the inscriptions this place was under Jayangonda Chozhamandalathu,  Kumizhi Nattu Kayar.

The original temple is believed to be built during 8th Century Pallava period and latter rebuilt during Chozha period. The temple was completely renovated and there is no trace of antiquity. To our surprise we found two stones with Chozha period inscriptions are  placed on the top of the side wall. The width of the inscription stone was also cut to match the width of the wall. The fate of the old inscription and pillars are not known.
