63/9. SRI CHAYAVANESWARAR TEMPLE / SAYAVANESWARAR TEMPLE, TIRUCHAIKADU.
This place is now called Chayavanam. This is the 63rd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva
Sthalam and the 9th Sthalam on the north side of river Kaveri.
Thirugnanasambandar and Appar have sung hymns in praise of lord Shiva of this
temple.
Moolavar : Sri Chayavaneswarar, Sri Rathinachayavaneswarar
Consort : Sri Kosahambal, Sri Kuyilinum Nanmozhiyaal.
Some of the features of this temple are as follows:
The temple faces east with a three-tier Rajagopuram. Rishabam and Balipeedam are in front. Moolavar is a little shorter on a square avudayar.
In the praharam Suryan, Indran, Iyarpakai Nayanar, with
his wife, Moovar ( without Manickavasagar ), Vinayagar, Subramaniyar,
Gajalakshmi, Bhairavar, Navagrahas. It is to be watched that Velavar is with a bow instead of a vel/spear.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, and artha mandapam. A Dravida (octagonal ) vimanam is over the sanctum. The prastaram is with Kapotha, Boothavari, and Yazhivari above.
This is one of the maada koil built by Ko Chengat Chozhan. It is
one of the 6 temples equivalent to Kasi.
LEGENDS
Iyarpakai Nayanar sends his wife along with Lord Shiva. Upamanyu, Indiran, Iravatham, and Iyapakai Nayanar worshiped the Shiva of this temple.

64/10. SRI PALLAVANESWARAR TEMPLE, THIRU PALLAVANEECHURAM.
This
place is now called Kaveripoompattinam, Poompuhar.
This is the 64th Devaram Paadal Petra
Shiva Sthalam and the 10th Sthalam on the north side of
river Cauvery. Thirugnanasambandar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of
this temple.
Moolavar : Sri Pallavaneswarar.
Consort : Sri Soundaranayagi
Some of the features of this temple are as follows.
The temple faces east with a 5-tier Rajagopuram. A balipeedam and Rishabam/Idabam are in front of the
sanctum. In Koshtam Dakshinamurthy. Moolavar
is a little bigger in size.
In praharam Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar, 4 Shiva
Lingams, Pattinathar with folded hands in worshiping posture, Gajalakshmi,
Saneeswarar, Bhairavar. ( Saneeswarar and Bhairavar are in a single sannadhi
). The Natarajar saba is similar to Thillai.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of Sanctum Sactorum, antarala and ardha mandapam. A 2-tier Vimanam is over the sanctum.
LEGENDS
Pallava king worshiped Shiva at this
temple. It is the birthplace of Pattinathar and Iyarpakai Nayanar.

161/44. SRI VALAMPURANATHAR TEMPLE. THIRUVALAMPURAM.
This
place is called Melaperumpallam. This is the 161st Thevara
paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and the 44th Sthalam on the south side
of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Moovar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva
of this temple.
Moolavar : Sri Valampuranathar.
Consort : Sri Vaduvarkkanni.
Some of the features of this temple are as follows.
The temple faces east with a Rishabam and balipeedam. Moolavar is of Piruthivi Lingam. There is a shallow
on the top. Sambrani and Punugu sattam is applied.
In prakaram Suryan, Vinayagar, Naalvar, Viswanathar, Murugan,
Ramanathar, Gajalakshmi. Images of Pichadanar, Vattanai Nayagar on the sanctum sanctorum wall.
ARCHITECTURE
This is one of the Mada Koil constructed by Ko Chenkat Chozhan. The temple Consists of Sanctum sanctorum, antarala and artha mandapam. It is worth to see the sculptures of Sanctum.
LEGENDS
Thirumal got the Valampuri Sangu after worshiping lord Shiva of
this temple. Erandamuni entered into river Cauvery at Thiruvalanchuzhi and
came out at this place. There is a temple for Eranda Munivar ( Jeeva Samadhi
) in front of the main temple.

162/45. SRI SANGARANYESWARAR TEMPLE.
THIRU THALACHANGADU.
This
place is called Thalachangadu. This is the 162nd Devaram
Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and the 45th sthalam on the south side
of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Thirugnanasambandar has sung hymns in praise of
Lord Shiva of this temple.
Moolavar : Sri Sangaranyeswarar, Sri Sangavaneswarar,
Sri
Sangarunadeswarar.
Consort : Sri Soundaranayaki.
Some of the important features of this temple are as follows.
The temple is facing east with an entrance arch. Balipeedam and Vinayagar are
after the arch. Moolavar is in the shape of a Sanghu / conch and the sanctum is a little larger. In artha mandapam images of Naalvar and Chenkot Chozhan with his wife.
In Koshtam, Narthana Vinayagar,
Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma, Durgai. In prakaram Sannadhi for Sridevi, Bhudevi sametha Maha Vishnu,
Subramaniyar, Natarajar, Somaskandar, Nalvar, Maha Vishnu, Jurahareswarar, Kaveri, Pattinathar, Agathiyar.

160/43. SRI NATRUNAIAPPAR
TEMPLE. THIRUNANIPALLI.
Now
this place is called Ponsei. This is the 160th Thevaram
paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and the 43rd Sthalam on the south side
of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Moovar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva
of this temple.
Moolavar :
Sri Nartrunaiappar
Consort : Sri Parvatha Puthiri.
Some
of the features of this temple are as follows.
The
temple is facing east with an entrance arch. Panchamurtis stucco images are
in the entrance arch. Balipeedam and Rishabam are after the arch. In koshtam Agasthiyar, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy,
Lingothbavar, Brahma, Durgai.
In
parakarm Nalvar, Vinayagar, Suryan. Natarajar Sabha in the maha mandapam. Ambal
is in a separate sannadhi facing west.
ARCHITECTURE
The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum, antarala, and artha mandapam. An ekathala vesara vimanam believed to be one of the biggest, is over the sanctum. Vrutha spuditham are in the greeva kosatam. On the base of the sanctum Sanctorum bas-reliefs of epic Ramayana, are worth watching.
LEGENDS
This
is the birthplace of Thirugnanasambandar’s mother. Thirugnanasambandar has sung
hymns in praise of Lord Shiva Sitting on the shoulder of his father. The place
was once Paalai which was turned into Neithal, Forest, and Paddy field when Sundarar Sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.
