Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple / Kamatchi Amman Temple / காமாட்சி அம்மன் கோயில், Velliraveli, Tiruppur District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this Sri Kamatchi Amman Temple at Velliraveli in Tiruppur District was a part of “Ayyanar, Durgai Sculptures, Hero Stone and Memorial stones in Shiva & Amman Temples of Tiruppur and Erode Districts Visit, on 27th and 28th February 2022. This temple is in the northern part of the Village. Usually, Kamatchi Amman is the favorable God for the Mudaliar Community, since most of the people belong to that Community, whose main profession is weaving.

Some of the salient features of this temple are…
The temple faces east with a balipeedam. Lakshmi and Saraswati stucco images are on both sides of the porch. Stucco images of Amman’s various forms, Shiva Linga, Amman worshiping Lord Shiva, Vinayagar, and Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar are on the top of the parapet wall. A Rishabam and balipeedam are in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum. Dwarapalakis, Vinayagar, and Sri Murugan are on the entrance, both sides of the sanctum sanctorum. Amman is in a sitting posture, holding Pasam, Angusam, Sugar cane, and a lotus flower. In Koshtam, Maheswari, Goumari, and Vaishnavi.

A memorial stone Gifted by Chitra in the year 2002 with reliefs Anna Chakram, Dharma Chakram, and Spear / Vel is in the praharam.

ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum, an ardha mandapam, and a mukha mandapam. The stucco vimanam with three Kalasas is on the sanctum sanctorum. Stucco images of Amman’s various forms are on the Vimanam. The complete temple was built with brick and cement.




HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
As per the inscription available at the temple, Main Deity Sri Kamatchi Amman was installed in the sanctum sanctorum and Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 15th February 1984, under the head of Koonampatti Guru Maha Sannidhanam  Sri-La-Sri Na Saravana Manicka Vasaga Swamigal and the temple was built by the Senguntha Mudaliar Community.

Pavukkal was laid on 1st July 2001. On 16th March 2011, Punarutharana Ashtabandhana maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted under the head of Koonampatti Adheenam Sivasri Thirugnanasambandar Swamigal.

LEGENDS
The Senguntha Mudaliar Community People Consider as equivalent to Kanchi Kamatchi Amman and also offer prayers to this Kamakshi as their Kuladeivam.

People pray to Kamatchi Amman, to remove marriage obstacles and Child boon.  

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from oru kala pooja special poojas are conducted on Fridays, Pournami ( Full moon ), and Amavasya ( new moon ) days.

TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since oru kala pooja is conducted, the temple will not be kept closed after pooja and will open at 19.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The temple is at the beginning of the Village Velliraveli and about 2 KM off the Kunnathur – Perundurai main Road. Town bus route No 10 is available from Tiruppur and P3 is from Perundurai.
The temple is 7 KM from Kunnathur, 15 KM from Perundurai, 26 KM from Tiruppur, and 35 KM from Erode.
The nearest Railway station is Perundurai and the Junctions are Tirupur and Erode.
