LEGENDS
The legend associated with this temple is very much similar to Mangadu Amman. Once a cool place with green plants and trees, has become very hot and unbearable for Human beings. Asalana  Siddhar with jada mudi, ( Sri Veerama Munivar..? ) came to this place and told the people that a swayambhu Amman was in tapas inside Ant Hill, and due to that lot of heat was being generated. He further said that if anyone receives that heat of Amman, then this place will become cool and normal. When nobody came forward to receive the heat, the Siddhar, did a tapas and received the heat of Amman. After dapas, the Siddhar went in the well.

Before entering the well, the Siddhar asked the people to close the well after his entry and construct a temple for Amman. When the people did as per the Siddhar’s instruction, the heat reduced to normal. Since Amman was in a standstill position ( asalanam – அசலனம் ) without any movement, Amman is called Asalathamman.

The Devotees pray to this Asalathamman for immovable properties, to get a favourable reply/verdict from the court,  for a strong Mangalya bhagyam, Child boon, to get abundant wealth, etc,.
