After Keshavaram Anaikkattu, we continued further to Keshavaram Shiva Temple on the south banks of the river Koovam. This is a continuation post to the Koovam Temples Visit, which happened on 13th October 2015. Considering easy access to this temple's details, this temple is written & updated separately.
The name Keshavarm/ Kesavaram came after the name of Lord Shiva of this temple. Since this is a Mukti Sthalam, Shiva’s consort is not there. The temple is in bad shape in the midst of paddy fields and there is no proper approach road.
To reach this temple we have to negotiate through the bounds of the paddy field. The rain the previous night made our walk more difficult.

Some of the salient features of this temple are...
The Temple faces east with a balipeedam and Rishabam. The old murtis and beheaded Rishabam are scattered around the temple. Koshta murtis are found defaced. Had the chance to view the inside stone vimanam of the sanctum above Moolavar after removing my shirt.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of Sanctum Sanctorum, ardha mandapam and maha mandapam. The sanctum vimanam was constructed completely with stone, from adhistanam to Stupi. An eka tala Gajaprishta Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. In Greeva Koshtam Shiva, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu as Narasimhar and Brahma. Meta colour sheet Shed was provided by the devotees recently to save this treasure from further damage to the Gajaprishta Vimanam.
HISTORY & INSCRIPTIONS
From the inscriptions, the temple must have been constructed during 12th and 13th-century Chozhas.
