Hero Stones / நடுகல் / வீரகல் /veerakallu at Sri Narasimha Swamy Rock Cut Cave temple, at Namakkal, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this Hero and Sati Stones at Sri Narasimha Swamy Rock Cut Cave Temple at Namakkal was a part of Kolli Hills Heritage walk - “வல்வில் ஒரி தேச மரபு நடை..." organised by எண்திசை வரலாற்று மரபுநடை குழு, on 20^th and 21^st May 2023. 

This Hero Stone is a sati stone taken for a King or Chieftain, who might have been died in a war. The Hero is on the Horse and  his assistant is holding an umbrella. His wife is shown on the left side of the Hero stone. A Small image is worshipping posture is shown on her right may be her son or daughter.  Since the Hero stone is in damaged condition, full details couldn't obtained.

இந்த இரு நடுகற்களும் நாமக்கல் ஸ்ரீ நரசிம்ஹ சுவாமி குடைவரைக் கோயிலின் ஒரு பரிவார சன்னதியின் முன்பு சுவரின் மீது சாய்த்து வைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தது. அதில் ஒன்று ஒரு படைத் தளபதிக்காகவோ அன்றி ஒரு குறுநில மன்னனுக்காகவோ எடுக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கலாம். வீரன் குத்தீட்டியுடன் குதிரை மீது அமர்ந்து காணப்படுகின்றார். வீரனுக்கு பின்புறம் இருந்து அவரின் உதவியாளர் குடை பிடிக்கின்றார்.  குதிரையின் கால்களுக்கு முன்பு அவருடைய மனைவியும் அருகே குழந்தை போன்று சிறிய உருவம் கை கூப்பிய நிலையில் காணப்படுகின்றது. போரில் இறந்து, பின்பு அவனுடைய மனைவி சதியேற்று உள்ளார். அவர்களுடைய குழந்தையும் அவர்களுடன் இறந்ததா என்று தெரியவில்லை.

This Hero stone is also found near the above Hero stone. this hero stone is also found in Damaged Condition. These two Hero stones may belongs to 16th to 17th century Vijayanagara period.
