The
visit to the Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal and Bhakta Anjaneyar Temple at
Thoraipakkam was a Part of not popular temples of Chennai South Visit on 27th
November 2022. Thorai Pakkam is on the Old Mahabalipuram road after Thiruvanmiyur.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple faces west with balipeedam, Dwajasthambam/Kodimaram, and Garudan.
Stucco images of Maha Vishnu with Sridevi and Bhudevi are on the top of the
mandapam. Anjaneyar and Garudan are on both sides. Stucco Dwarapalakas are at
the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum. Moolavar Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal is
about 6 feet tall in standing posture with right hand in varada hastam and left
hand in kadi hastam. Utsavars are in
front of Moolavar.
In
praharam, Vinayagar as Thumbigai Alwar, Sudarsanar, Hanuman, Alarmel Mangai
Thayar, Andal and Alwars. Alarmelmangai Thayar and Andal Sannidhis are on both sides of the main sanctum sanctorum.
ARCHITECTURE
The
main temple consists of sanctum sanctorum and ardha mandapam. The complete
temple was constructed with bricks and cement concrete. The sanctum sanctorum
is on an upanam and pada bandha
adhistanam. A two-tier nagara Vimanam is
on the sanctum sanctorum. The Vimanam Tala and Greeva Kostas do not have any
images.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
is believed that the original temple is about 100 to 150 years old and the
present structure belongs to the 20th Century. The temple activities are
being carried out through Sri Venkatesa Perumal temple Welfare Development
Trust and Sreekannapiran Bhakta Bhajana Sabha Jeernotharana Ashta Bandhana Maha Samprokshanam was conducted on 1st June 2017 / June 2022.
LEGENDS
The
Devotees worships Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal as Tirupati Thirumalai
Venkatesa Perumal. Devotees pray to Thayar to remove Marriage obstacles, Child
boon, etc.
It
is claimed that those who cannot go to Tirupati can offer at this temple also.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart
from Regular Poojas, special poojas are conducted on Rama Navami, Vaikunta
Ekadasi / Vaikuntha Ekadashi, Navaratri, Margzhi Ra Paththu, Puratasi Saturdays, Hanuman Jayanthi,
Sathyanarayana Pooja, Thiruvonam, Deepa
Utsavam, etc,.

The
temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to
20.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The
temple is on the Post Office Street in Okkiyam Thuraipakkam. On OMR Road, from
Toraipakkam Junction, take the service Road towards Madya Kailash, and take the left of
Post Office Road.
The
temple is about 700 Meters from Toraipakkam 100 feet Road Junction, 5 KM from
Thiruvanmiyur MRTS Railway Station, 5.3 KM from Thiruvanmiyur Bus Depot and 19.00 km from Chennai Central.
