Akka Thangi Kola / Akka Thangiyara Kola / அக்கா தங்கை குளம் / Melkote, Mandya District, Karnataka.

The Visit to this Akka Thangiyara Kola, one of the Tourist spot of Melkote was a part of Karnataka State, Hoysala Period Shiva and temple’s visit on 30^th July 2023, organised by தொண்டை மண்டல வரலாற்று ஆய்வு சங்கம் "திருக்கச்சி" FB Group.

It is believed that these stepped ponds are created by two sisters. These two stepped ponds are excavated side by side with a walk way in between. The steps are paved neatly with granite stones. A Hanuman Temple and Kulasekara Alwar temples  are built on the banks. The water in one of the tank / pond is potable and the other can be used for washing clothes and other purposes. The exact period of excavation is not known.

This monument of about 500 Meters from Cheluvanarayana Temple, 1 KM from Yoga Narasimha temple Melkote, 18 KM from Thondanoor, 51 KM from Mysore and  136 KM from Bangalore.

Nearest Railway Station is Pandavapura.
