HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the Shiva Linga belongs to the 10th to 11th Century Chozha period. Mathai Swamigal is also associated with this temple.

A Shiva Lingam and the other deity images were unearthed during the construction of the Rudramakali Amman Temple, which was abandoned hundreds of years ago. This abandoned Shiva Linga was moved to the present place in stages, and a temple was constructed in recent years by Mr. Baskar. The temple was consecrated on 16th September 2019.

Annadhana Sivan dedicated his life to feeding thousands of Devotees and left his assets for this noble cause. His original name was Ramasamy, hailed from Thepperumanallur, and he was born in the 1850s. He followed as instructed by the Kanchi Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Swamigal. In 1909, 1921, and 1933, during Mahamaham festival days, Annadhana Sivan organised annadhanam for lakhs of pilgrims. He was associated with Kanchi Mutt from 1916 to 1939 till his death. Hence, the Shiva of this temple obtained the name of Annadhana Shivan.
