The visit to this Hero Stones /Sati Stone/ Pulikuthikal was a part
of “Temples, Hero Stones, Memorial Stones, Hero Stambhas (Mala Koil) and
Heritage Sites Visit, around Pollachi”, on 31st January 2026 and 1st February 2026.

PLACE : Sinjuvadi.
LOCATION : In a coconut farm, before the village
TITLE : Pulikuthi Kal/
Memorial Nadukal
PERIOD :
16th – 17th-century.
DETAILS :
Two Hero Stones/Nadukals are installed
in this group, of which one is a Pulikuthipattan Nadukal and the other is a
Memorial Stone.
In Pulikuthipattan Nadukal, the hero
is killing the tiger with a spear, holding it in both hands. The end of the spear
is shown pierced through the tiger. The
Hero is shown with a big tuft and a moustache. The hero is wearing ornaments around
the neck and in elongated earlobes. His dress below his waist is shown with
beautiful folding.
The other Hero Stone/ Nadukal may be a
memorial stone or a sati stone. A man in Anjali hastham is seen at the centre.
On both sides, two images are faintly visible. They may be his wives who took
sati after his death.

LOCATION : 500 meters from Poovalaparuthi Junction
TITLE : Pulikuthi Nadukal
/Memorial Stone
PERIOD :
17th – 19th century.
DETAILS :
This group consists of three Nadukals/
Hero Stones, of which two are memorial stones, and the third one is the Pulikuthi
Hero Stone, which is about 20 meters away from the memorial stones.
Two male images in Anjali hastham are
shown on one memorial stone, and the second one is installed for a lady in
anjali hastham. Both male images have a tuft and a moustache. The ornaments
over the neck are shown in petroglyphs (கீரல்).
The half dress extends up to the ankle. Two spears are also shown on their right
side. In addition, a Sun and bottle (?) like image is also shown.
In the second memorial stone, the lady has a tuft and ornaments over her neck and in elongated earlobes.
In the Pulikuthi Hero Stone, the hero
is shown kneeled posture like Garudan. The hero kills the tiger with a knife /
kattar in his right hand, and his left hand is holding the tiger’s front legs.
He is shown with a turban and a tuft. He wears ornaments around his neck and on
elongated earlobes. The dress on his waist is shown like shorts, and a kattar
is tied to the hip. In addition, a walking stick is also shown on the right side
of the nadukal. Looking at the features, this Pulikuthi hero stone may belong
to the 19th century.

LOCATION : Near Panchayat Board
TITLE : Memorial Stone
PERIOD :
19th – 20th century
DETAILS :
In this memorial stone, a man and a
woman are shown in Anjali hastham. Both are shown with big tufts, ornaments over
the neck and in the elongated earlobes. Both are wearing dresses below the waist,
which extend up to the ankles.
19th to 20th-century inscriptions are found on this memorial stone.
