HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is said that the Shiva temple was in a dilapidated condition till 2003, and the same was reconstructed by the people who moved from this village and the village people. Shiva was called Sri Appaleeswarar, and the tank was called Appa Kulam by the local people; there is evidence for the same.

A 10th to 11th century Chozha period damaged inscription stone slab is lying in the temple. The inscription belongs to SvathiSri Rajakesari Barmar’s 7th reign. The inscription records the endowment of burning a perpetual lamp for the same Sava moova peradu, which was gifted by more than one person. Since the inscription stone is in damaged condition, the King’s name and year are not known.
