Sri Kasivisvanathar Temple/ Sri Kasiviswanathar Temple/ ஸ்ரீ காசி விஸ்வநாதர் கோயில், Poigainallur, Ranipet District, Tamil Nadu.

Sri Kasiviswanathar Temple at Poigainallur, in Ranipet District, was a part of the “Gajaprishta /Gajabrushta Vimana Temples, on the banks of Palar and Kosasthalaiyar Rivers Visit” on 03rd April 2026. Sri Kasivishwanathar Temple is one of the twin Shiva temples in Poigainallur, about 150 meters apart.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with a balipeedam and a Rishabam under a mandapam. A jala with simhas is provided on the east wall of the mandapam. Moolavar is small on a round avudaiyar. In the koshtam, only Maha Vishnu (Green Stone). 

There are no parivara sannidhis.

ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam, and a maha mandapam. The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to prastaram. The sanctum sanctorum is on a simple pada bandha adhistanam. The adhistanam consists of jagathy, three patta kumudam, and pattikai. The bhitti starts with vedikai. Brahma kantha pilasters with kalasam, kudam, mandi, palakai, and poo mottu pothyal. The prastaram consists of valapi and kapotam with nasi kudus.

The vimanam over the bhumi desam was constructed with bricks. The vimanam is 1 tier, greevam and a vesara sigaram. The sigaram was untouched during the renovation.






HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
Based on the architectural style, the temple may be 400 years old, constructed during the Vijayanagara Nayaka period. The same was reconstructed during recent years.

Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on pradosham, Maha Shivaratri, Vinayagar Chathurthi, etc.

Since oru kala poojas are conducted in the morning hours, the exact opening and closing times are unpredictable.
