Sri Karpaga Vinayagar and Pandurangan Bhaktha Samajam, Adambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

This Visit to this Sri Karpaga Vinayagar and Pandurangan temple was a part of 108 Sukravara LS Parayana organised by Indra Balaji, on 14^th April 2023. Even-though had been to this temple earlier before construction of the Rajagopuram, so far had not written in my blog. This chance made me to write about this temple, since, this temple is unique in nature.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….

The temple is facing east with a 5 tier Rajagopuram. The complex consists of Sri Karpaga Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar, Anjali Anjaneyar, Pandurangan with Rukmani and Sarathambal sannidhis. Durgai and Navagrahas, Tirupati Venkatachalapathy Bajan Mandapam are also in the praharam.

ARCHITECTURE

The Pandurangan sannidhi was built in north Indian style. Stucco images of Shiva with Nandi & Parvati, Maha Vishnu with his consorts are in the koshtam. In the mukha mandapam, stucco images of Pandurangan, Thukkaram, Adi Sankarar, Sri Pundaligan, Sri Korakumpar, Sri Neeloba, Sri Sokamela and much more.

The Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar sannidhi was built in Dravidian style from Adhistaman to Sigaram. This temple also has the Sthala purana stucco bas reliefs of Thiruparankundram, Thiruchendur, Thiru Avinankudi ( Palani ), Thiruveragam ( Swami malai ), Sri Valli Thirukalyanam,  are around the temple.

Sri Sarathambal sannidhi was built during recent years. This sannidhi was built completely with stone.

The inscription records that this Sri Rukmayi samedha Sri Pandurangan temple was constructed and consecrated  by Adambakkam Vittal Nama Prachara sabha on 08-02-2004.

ஆதம்பாக்கம் விட்டல் நாம ப்ரசார ஸபாவைச் சேர்ந்த ஸ்தல பாகவதர்களால் ஸ்ரீ பாண்டுரங்கனுக்கு நூதன ஸந்நிதி நிறுவும் திருப்பணி துவக்கப்பட்டு, அனைவரது ஆதரவுடனும், பூர்த்தியாகி, ஷை ஸபாவினரால் ஸ்ரீருக்மாயி ஸமேத ஸ்ரீ பாண்டுரங்கன் பிரதிஷ்டைசெய்யப்பட்டு, ஆலய கும்பாபிசேகம் 08-02-2004 அன்று இனிதே நடந்தேறியது.

The temple was consecrated / Maha Kumbhabhishekam was done on 17^th June 2016.

ஆதிம்பாக்கம் ஸ்ரீ கற்பக விநாயகர் ஸ்ரீ பாண்டுரங்கன் ஆலய குடமுழுக்கு விழாதுர்முகி வருடம், ஆனி மாதம் 3ம் நாள் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை ( 17.06.2016), சித்த யோகம் கூடிய சுப தினத்தில், சிம்ம லகனத்தில், காலை 10.00 மணியிலிருந்து 10.30 மணிக்குள், ஆலயத்தின் அனைத்து சந்நதிகளுக்கும், குடமுழுக்கு விழா, வேதக் கிரமமாக, காஞ்சி காமகோடி பீடாதிபதி ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ ஜெயேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள். ஸ்ரீ சங்கர விஜயேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள், மற்றும் தக்ஷிணாம்நாய சிருங்கேரி ஸ்ரீ சாரதா பீடாதிபதி ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ பாரதி தீர்த்த மஹாசந்நிதானம் ஆகியோர்களின் அனுக்ரஹத்துடனும். பக்த அன்பர்கள் அனைவரின் முழு ஒத்துழைப்புடனும் சிறப்பாக நடை பெற்றது. அவ்வமயம் அதிகாரி விஸ்வவார்க்கரி ஸம்ஸ்தான், கடையநல்லூர் ஸ்ரீ துகாராம் கணபதி மஹராஜ் அவர்கள் நேரில் கலந்து கொண்டு சிறப்பித்தார்கள்.

குடமுழுக்கு வைபவத்தையொட்டி 'மஹாபெரியவாள்' காஞ்சி காமகோடி பீடாதிபதி ஜகத்குரு, ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்  திருவுருவப் படத்தை ப்ரும்மஸ்ரீ சுந்தர குமார் அவர்கள் திறந்து வைத்தார்கள் ஆலய திருப்பணி, குடமுழுக்கு, மண்டலாபிஷேகம், ஆகிய அனைத்தையும் ஆதம்பாக்கம் ஸ்ரீ கற்பக விநாயகர் ஸ்ரீ பாண்டுரங்கன் பக்த சமாஜமும், ஸ்ரீ விட்டல் பஜன் மண்டலியினரும், இணைந்து 01.07.2016 பொறுப்பேற்று சிறப்பாக நிறைவேற்றினர்.

The 5 tier Rajagopuram was consecrated on 02^nd December 2019, in presence of Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal and abhishekam to all sannidhis was also done by him.

ஸ்ரீ கற்பக விநாயகர் ஸ்ரீ பாண்டுரங்கன் ஆலய ராஜகோபுர மஹா கும்பாபிஷேகம் விகாரி வருடம் கார்த்திகை மாதம், 16-ம் நாள். திங்கட் கிழமை (02.12.2019) திருவோணம் நட்சத்திரம், அமிர்த, சித்த யோகம் கூடிய சுபதினத்தில், விருச்சிக லக்னத்தில், காலை 6.30 மணிக்கு மேல் 7.30 மணிக்கள் ஆலய நூதன ராஜகோபுரத்திற்கு, நான்கு நாட்கள், ஐந்துகால யாக சாலை பூஜைக்குப் பிறகு, வேதகிரமமாக, காஞ்சி காமகோடி பீடாதிபதி ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ சங்கர விஜயேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள் முன்னீலையில், தேனி, ஸ்வாமி ஸ்ரீ சித்பவாநத்தா ஆஸ்ரம பீம், பூஜ்யஸ்ரீ ஓம்காராநந்தா ஸ்வாமிகளின் திருக்கரங்களால் கும்பாபிஷேகம் மிகச் சிறப்பாக செய்விக்கப்பட்டது.

அதனுடன் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ சங்கர விஜயேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வரமிகள் தன் திருக்கரங்களால் ஆலய அனைத்து சந்நிதிகளிலும் விமரிசையாக அபிஷேகம் செய்வித்து பின் அவர்களும் ஸ்ரீ ஓம்காராநந்தா ஸ்வாமிகளும் அனுக்கிரஹ பாஷ்யம் வழங்கினார்கள். உடன் கடையநல்லூர் ஸ்ரீ துக்காராம் கபைதி மஹீரான் அவர்கள் நேரில் வந்திருந்து ஆசி வழங்கினார்கள். மேலும் இக்குபாபிஷேகம் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற தக்ஷிணாம்நாய சிருங்கேரி ஸ்ரீ சாரதா பீடாதிபதி ஜகத்குரு, ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ பாரதி தீர்த்த மஹா சந்நிதானம் அவர்களும், ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ விதுசேகர பாரதி சந்நிதானம் அவர்களும் ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணப்ரேமி ஸ்வாமிகளும், மஹாரண்யம் ஸ்ரீ முரளீதர ஸ்வாமிகளும், மிகப் பிரியமுடன் அநுக்கிரஹம் அளித்திருக்கிறார்கள். ராஜகோபுரம் கட்டுவற்கும், கும்பாபிஷேகமும் அதைத்தொடர்ந்து 48 நாட்கள் மண்டலாபிஷேகமும், நடைபெறுவதற்கும் பாகவத, பக்த அன்பர்கள் அனைவரும் தாராளமாக நன்கொடை வழங்கி, உடன் ஒத்துழைத்து சிறப்பித்தார்கள்.

InnuRRuvan Kulam Inscription / ஐநூற்றுவன் குளம் கல்வெட்டு, Pammal –Pozhichalur Road, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this inscription was a part of Shiva and Vishnu Temples Visit at Old Pallavaram, Pammal and Pozhichalur, on 07^th April 2023. This inscription is inscribed on a rock which is on the (west side of the cemetery ) left side of the  Pammal to Pozhichalur Road.

The inscription reads as “InnuRRuvan Kulam” in 12- 13^th Century characters. Along with it, has the symbols of Merchant group like Lamp, Kalappai, Sword and Pasumpai. This Tank was excavated by the merchant group called “InnuRRuvan”. Ref: Kanchipuram mavatta kalvettukkal. 

இப்பாறைக்கல்வெட்டு பம்மல் – பொழிச்சலூர் சாலையில் சுடுகாட்டின் மேற்கு பகுதியிலும், சாலையின் இடது பக்கத்திலும் காணப்படுகின்றது. இதில் சுமார் 12-13 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு கால எழுத்தமைதியில்.. “ஐநூற்றுவன் குளம்” என்று வெட்டப்பட்டு இருக்கின்றது. மேலும் இக்கல்வெட்டில் வணிகக் குழுவினரின் சின்னங்களான குத்துவிளக்கு, கலப்பை, குறுவாள் மற்றும் பசும்பை  போன்றவை புடைப்பு சிற்பங்களாக வெட்டப்பட்டு உள்ளது.

ஐநூற்றுவர் என்பது வணிகக் குழிவினரைக் குறிக்கும். மேலும் அவர்களது சின்னங்களும் இருப்பதால் ஐநூற்றுவர் எனும் வணிகக் குழுவினர் இங்கு ஒரு குளம் தோண்டுவித்து இருக்கலாம். அதில் வரும் ஐநூற்றுவன் என்பதை குழுவாகத்தான் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றும் தனிப்பட்ட நபர் ஐநூற்றுவன் என்று பெயராக / தனி  நபராக எடுத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டியது இல்லை என்பது ஆய்வர்களின் கருத்து.

Shri Thandu Thulukkanathamman Aalayam / அருள்மிகு தண்டு ஸ்ரீ துலுக்கானத்தம்மன் ஆலயம், Old Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Sri Thandu Thulukkanathamman Alayam at Old Pallavaram was a part of “Shiva, Vishnu Temples and Heritage monuments Visit”, in Old Pallavaram, Pammal and Pozhichalur areas, on Good Friday ie 7^th April 2023. This temple and Sri Thandu Thulukkanaththamman temples are being maintained by same trustees.

 

Moolavar  : Sri Thandu Thulukkanathamman

Some of the salient features of this temple are….

The temple is facing east with a mukha mandapam. Stucco image of Thandu Thukkanathamman is at the centre and Vinayagar & Murugan are on both sides, on the top of the Mukha Mandapam entrance. Moolavar Sri Thandu Thukkanathamman is in sitting posture holding Mazhu, Pasam, knife and kapalam. An Amman’s head alone is at the feet of moolavar. In koshtam  Dirgai and Brahmi. Utsavars are in front of the moolavar. Vinayagar, Garudan and Navagrahas are in the mandapam.

ARCHITECTURE

The complete temple was built with bricks.  There is no formal adhisthanam.  An eka tala Vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum.   Stucco images of Amman’s various forms are on the Greeva Kishtam.

 

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS

As per the inscriptions, this temple was built in 1979. The temple Celebrated it’s 35 years of completion on 10^th August 2013, by installing a clock with playing facility of sloka every one hour. The old Vimanam was pulled down and jeernodharna maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 22^nd October 2018 after constructing the present Vimanam.

Apart from regular poojas special poojas are conducted on Vaikunda Ekadasi, Annual festival during the month of Adi.

The visit to this Sri Thiruvenkadamudaiyan Temple at Old Pallavarm, was a part of “Shiva, Vishnu Temples and Heritage monuments Visit”, in Old Pallavaram, Pammal and Pozhichalur areas, on Good Friday ie 7^th April 2023. The temple is facing east with a mukha mandapam. Stucco image of Maha Vishnu in Ananda sayana posture with Hanuman is on the top of the Mukha Mandapam entrance. Moolavar Sri Thiruvenkadamudayan is small with Sridevi and Bhudevi. In koshtam Hayagreever and Lakshmi Narasimhar. Utsavars are in front of the moolavar. Vinayagar, Garudan and Navagrahas are in the mandapam.

ARCHITECTURE

The complete temple was built with bricks. The sanctum sanctorum is about 2 feet below the ground level. There is no formal adhisthanam. The height of the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum is about 5 feet. The sanctum sanctorum is with a salakara Vimanam. Stucco images of Maha Vishnu’s  avatars are on the Vimana koshtams.
