The
visit to this Sri Thandu Thulukkanathamman Alayam at Old Pallavaram was a part
of the “Shiva, Vishnu Temples, and Heritage Monuments Visit”, in Old Pallavaram,
Pammal, and Pozhichalur areas, on Good Friday ie 7th April 2023. This
temple and Sri Thandu Thulukkanaththamman temples are being maintained by the same
trustees.
Moolavar : Sri Thandu Thulukkanathamman
Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple is facing east with a mukha mandapam. The stucco image of Thandu
Thukkanathamman is at the center and Vinayagar & Murugan are on both sides,
on the top of the Mukha Mandapam entrance. Moolavar Sri Thandu Thukkanathamman
is in a sitting posture holding Mazhu, Pasam, knife, and kapalam. An Amman’s head
alone is at the feet of Moolavar. In koshtam Dirgai and Brahmi. Utsavars are in front of
the moolavar. Vinayagar, Garudan and Navagrahas are in the mandapam.
ARCHITECTURE
The whole temple was built with bricks. There
is no formal adhistanam. An eka tala
Vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. Stucco
images of Amman’s various forms are on the Greeva Kishtam.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
As
per the inscriptions, this temple was built in 1979. The temple Celebrated its
35 years of completion on 10th August 2013, by installing a clock
with playing facility of sloka every hour. The old Vimanam was pulled down
and Jeernodharna maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 22nd October
2018 after constructing the present Vimanam.

CELEBRATIONS
Apart
from regular poojas special poojas are conducted on Vaikunda Ekadasi, the Annual
festival during the month of Adi.
