The
visit to this Sri Thiruvenkadamudaiyan Temple at Old Pallavarm was a part of the “Shiva, Vishnu Temples, and Heritage Monuments Visit”, in Old Pallavaram, Pammal, and Pozhichalur areas, on Good Friday ie 7th April 2023. This temple
and Sri Thandu Thulukkanaththamman temples are being maintained by the same
trustees.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple is facing east with a mukha mandapam. A stucco image of Maha Vishnu in Ananda Sayana posture with Hanuman is on the top of the Mukha Mandapam entrance. Moolavar
Sri Thiruvenkadamudayan is small with Sridevi and Bhudevi. In Kostam
Hayagreever and Lakshmi Narasimhar. Utsavars are in front of the moolavar.
Vinayagar, Garudan and Navagrahas are in the mandapam.
ARCHITECTURE
The
complete temple was built with bricks. The sanctum sanctorum is about 2 feet
below the ground level. There is no formal adhistanam. The height of the entrance to the sanctum
sanctorum is about 5 feet. The sanctum sanctorum is with a Salakara Vimanam.
Stucco images of Maha Vishnu’s avatars
are on the Vimana koshtams.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
As
per the inscriptions, this temple was built in 1936. Maha Kumbhabhishekam was
conducted in August 2005. The old Vimanam was pulled down and Jeernodharna maha
Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 22nd October 2018.

Apart
from regular poojas special poojas are conducted on Vaikunda Ekadasi, Hanuman
Jayanthi, Krishna Jayanthi, etc,.
